*****Texas vs. USC Game Thread*****

Herman just said Warren had an "eye laceration". Doesn't really make a ton of sense, since he was still out there blocking for most of the game and was targeted by Ehlinger several times in the 2nd half.

Back to the home cooking thought..did anyone else notice that no seconds ticked off the clock on the 2 USC spikes on that last drive?  BS.

I know there is going be lots of discussion about the qbs..sam made many mistakes as you can expect for a freshman starting 2nd game but  if shane had started this game and made the exact same plays good and bad that sam made. How many people woild be calling for his head? Sam is still to raw imo..best chance to win against ou,okst, kst is with shane...offense was terrible tonite..qb play was part of it...sam is a stud and will be the man just dont believe he is ready yet.
More than atleast a dozen times Sam eluded the defense where Shane would be eating dirt. Yes Shane is more accurate but I'm no way THAT much better than Sam. I firmly believe Shane would have gotten sacked several times resulting in the same type of offense. The key that wasn't use was Warren who had over 200 yards on the ground last week

It's give and take but the thing nobody can take away is Sam led his team to a lead with 35 secs and some serious clutch runs and throws.  Maybe Shane does as well but we will never know.  True Effie freshman just took a heisman qb to double ot

Ok, someone will know where to find the clip, but did anyone notice one of the ref's reaction to the Ehlinger fumble in the first half? He was jumping up and down waving his hand in the SC direction prior to actually seeing who had the ball. We can know this because he proceeded to try to see who had the ball.

My first thought was "my God this ref is an SC homer."

Yes, the refs left lots of calls uncalled in one direction and thats not good. What is good is that we almost overcame all of it.

I tip my hat to Mr Ehlinger. What a gutty performance by a freshman on the big stage.

Cade Brewer, nice to meet you.

My game ball goes to the ENTIRE DEFENSE. Compared to week 1, its almost like someone came in and stole our defense and replaced it with one that works. I spent most of the game thinking "man, OU must be seeing this and thinking "oh shit." Maybe Okie State, too.

Defense scores!!!!

You have to admit, . . . watching that broadcast . . those announcers were leaning heavily to UT at game's end. lol

Collin Johnson is going to have a huge year. Someone really needs to step up and make teams pay for double-teaming Johnson. Where is John Burt?

I scratch my head on the game plan. Hard to argue because we almost won with it. But where was the run game? We racked up all kinds of yards the previous week and toward the end of the 1st half, we were starting to push them around a little. Warren should have had 20 carries, minimum.

I sure hope Connor isn't hurt too bad. A knee injury seldom only keeps you out for a week. Thankfully, we have a week to get everyone back in good health.

Malik Jefferson had his best game ever. I'm proud of him for stepping up.

The whole front 7 forced USC to be one dimensional. When that happened, all bets were off.

PJ Locke is a man. He's not 40 though.

Kris Boyd has his best game ever.

I like the hitting. We were lighting people up.

Bummer that we lost, but we counted on this being a loss. Face it, we didn't really think we'd win until the 4th qtr. I'll take it. We will beat OU.

So we're 1-2. I predicted 10-3. So there's another loss somewhere, probably OSU.

This one hurts, but I am so incredibly proud of this team for sticking in it 'til the end. Everyone counted on us getting slaughtered, but no sir. Honestly, I have a much better feeling about this team's trajectory than I did a few weeks ago. Only major gripe...what the hell is Tim Beck thinking with his playcalling? What does he love so much about Porter that CWlll barely ever gets the ball?

Wouldn't this be the ultimate kick in the nuts. Guy on OB claims he has it on his DVR and USC called 4 timeouts in the first half including the final one just before the last play.

It was the defense that went toe to toe with USC..the offense could and should have done more to win this game..the gameplan was baffling and the mistakes  by the offense could not be overcome by the defense.

stating obvious about defense....

but yea they should have more...as in a three f##king point lead with 35 seconds left in the game...but that can be conviently overlooked right

the first half offense sucked no doubt but it wasn't Sam that gave up a TD with 19 seconds before half.  So f##king give the kid his do

Huh? When did he say that? What context? Sound like he was eluding to the idea that Shane is not healthy now?
In post game they asked if Sam had earned the job if Shane is healthy.  Tom said Shane would get bulk first team reps when he's healthy.  Sam would get some too
