How in the world is this Longhorns team ranked #8?  Well, at least UT will qualify for the Big 12 tournament this season.

Geez.  One bad series and you post this?

The team is #8 because they were rolling and playing better than most teams in the country.  They had a tough series against some tough pitching this weekend.  They'll bounce back.  Don't worry about it.  We are 3rd in the Big12, and only a couple of games seperate us from the top and we still play Okie St.  Relax.

Joey...you're my boy, but one run in 27 innings and a home sweep merits something more than a 'don't worry about it'.

I'm a glass-half-full guy but this was a buzzkill.

Just an observation from a casual observer of UT baseball.

Admittedly, I don't watch many games beginning to end. I'm not impressed with our hitting, though.  IMO, we take too many pitches that should be smoked.

Buzz kill, yes, but we are still playing ~.750 baseball right now. We swept ou, in Norman, and are still in the race for the Conf Title. Nobody, and I mean nobody, would have passed on at 30-11 record in late-April before the season started. And also, I think my preseason conf prediction of 17 wins is still attainable, albeit a bit more difficult after this weekend. 9 conf games left.

Tough series for Texas, but these things happen in baseball. No reason to jump off the bandwagon. Baseball is a game of highs and lows, it's how you manage both. Hell just go look at top ten teams South Carolina, Florida State and Houston. All three teams have recently had a similar stretches where they'e lost 3 games in a row. Sometimes you have tough weekends. Also, TCU is a very good team. They are 11-1 in their last 12 and will be ranked in most polls come next week. No need to jump off the ship.............Texas lost to a very good team and these things are bound to happen in baseball.

dabomb...not jumping off the ship by any means. on balance it's been a solid year to this point. but getting swept at home by a currently unranked team is a pretty good kick in the package and can't help but dampen enthusiasm a bit.

It always sucks to lose, no doubt. That TCU team is good though. They will be ranked after this weekend, and are 11-1 in their last 12. TCU struggled at the beginning of the season, but they are no joke. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if they make a run to the CWS. They have 4 to 5 legit arms and a couple clutch hitters. Rankings don't always paint an accurate picture, TCU was hands down the best team we've played all year IMO. If we were swept by someone like WV or OU I would be a little more worried, but that TCU team is legit. We won't face anyone the rest of the season with Finnegan's stuff and won't face another number 2/closer with the caliber that TCU threw out there.

i think we'll end up being OK but this series was as frustrating as i can remember one being.

i'm really tired of the passive at bats.  standing up there trying desperately not to swing for fear of striking out and trying to draw a walk just demonstrates a lack of confidence.  TCU's pitchers were great though, but there's way too much standing around and not enough getting aggressive.  and augies blind stubborn allegiance to the sacrifice bunt just kills me.  in this day of the dead bats, we need some big innings, and he kills the prospect of big innings with his picket fence approach to offense.

good pitching beats good (and bad) hitting every day of the week.
