Just got to my hotel in Denver. 

Looks like Schrialdi fell apart in T5, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits and an error by Gurwitz who booted one, allowing Rice to extend their 2-1 lead to 7-1.

Texas responded in B5 with one with its only hit of the night, RBI single by Ben Johnson.

One of those nights, but that's baseball for you. I knew it was going to be one of those nights in the top of the first. Schiraldi gave up two hits that were absolutely perfect pitches. Both hitters were jammed and somehow found a hole. Had they been wood bats they would have been pop ups to the pitcher. Give RIce credit, but these type nights are bound to happen sometimes in baseball. Schiraldi has the best stuff on the team, but is still inconsistent at locating his pitches. Great weekday starter, but I like our 3 starters in the weekend rotation.

yeah, last night's game was a mess but lamenting for the 'good old days' seems oddly timed since we'd just come off a stretch of winning 11/12 and risen to the top-5 in rpi.

no...we don't have a kieschnick or a swindell but since they're arguably the greatest hitter and pitcher in our program's history, it's not terribly surprising in ANY year not to have someone like them.

I am not at all lamenting the "good old days," but I am saying that other than the pitching and Payton, the talent on this year's team is very ordinary. I am very happy we are winning, but it will be a struggle all year long.

wasn't referring to you on the 'lamenting' but whoever the 'older announcer' joeywa referenced. but no, other than payton i don't guess any of the other everyday players would start on our best teams.
