******Texas vs Okie Light-Sunday/Sr Day Baseball Thread*****

Just so y'all know, I do this PBP for TOS as well.  I have to tell ya, that may be coming to an end in the near future.  The cliff-jumping posters that have zero positive to say is really an ass-whippin.

Thanks to everyone here for being somewhat educated about baseball and discussing things without losing your minds.  :D
Never seen people that jump off the cliff so early. Texas was the number three national seed coming into this series per Perfect Game. They probably lost the national seed after this week, but my god people overreact. After about 3 or 4 teams everyone is hovering around 11-14 losses. If Texas comes out and wins two very winnable series against WV and Kansas State, they are still in the mix for a national seed. Never have I seen a coaches head called for when he has his team in position to be a national seed. The only thing that matters is tournament wins, and that's yet to be determined. I could understand the cliff-jumping if the team was a  bubble team or not going to make the tournament. Texas is sitting pretty to host a regional, and still in the mix for a super-regional. Guess you can't please everyone.

Our team is not to blame for today's game. There were pecker heads dismissing their pitching staff today while implying it was impossible for our man to have a bad game. The baseball gods took exception to that.

The time to talk shit is after you have beat their ass. Not before the first pitch is even been thrown. :-)

At the risk of being labeled a cliff jumper, we're 1-5 AT HOME against the 2 teams ahead of us in the standings.

Just not much margin for error with this bunch. Enough pitching to make a run to Omaha, but if they don't make it out of regional play wouldn't be a shocker.

Liked our approach at the plate today, with the exception of a couple of ABs by Tres and CJ.

We put up 8 hits, and had some hard hit balls not find the holes.  A couple of balls that didn't carry in our favor, (i.e. Marlow's double that was held in by the wind.)

I would like to see this team string some hits together.  No SAC bunts today, so those that are opposed to that should be happy.

Thornhill had an outing that nobody expected. 7 runs, 7 Earned Runs, that's not a Thornhill-type day.  Real head-scratcher on this one.

I think that there is a lot of parity at the top of the Big12.  Yes, we're 1-5 vs Ok St/TCU.  Ok St is 4-2 vs UT/TCU.  TCU is 4-2 vs OkSt/UT.

There are still two series remaining in Conference play, and we have to take care of business in Manhatten and Morgantown.

We have the pitching, and we also have the bats to win games.  We've seen it already this season.  Unfortunately, we've seen the pissing on our shoes as well.  It's not totally unexpected.  If you have followed anything I've written this season, you know that I've said there will be plenty of ups and downs with this young team.  Well, this is one of those "downs."

Don't fret, the season ain't over.

Good news is Texas has two very winnable series coming up.

WV is currently in 6th place in the Big 12.

Kansas State is in last place in the Big 12. Kansas State might not have anything to play for our series, as they still have TCU and OSU left on the schedule. They could very well be eliminated from the Big 12 tournament coming into that last weekend.

Texas has two very winnable Tuesday games left against Praire View A&M and Texas State. If Texas can win 6 of 8 or even 7 of 8, I still think Texas is in the mix for a national seed. Texas has a great RPI and like I said earlier a bunch of teams are hovering around the 11-14 loss mark. A bunch of those teams are going to lose some series coming up, because they face tough competition in the SEC and PAC 12. Time for Texas to regroup. Get back on track, and hosting a super regional is still in play. Baseball is a game of highs and lows.

Dammit Joey...ill fret as I see fit !!!😎

Hey...I'm just gonna enjoy the ride. Seems to me at their best, this is a CWS team. At their worst they're a team that goes 1-2 in the regionals.

Here's to playing our best in late may and June.

hitting the ball hard in the air at DF is the same as a strikeout. this team is very frustrating to watch. it is not a young team at the end of April.

Thornhill's day is easy to explain: "hang 'em, and bang 'em."
