Texas on the bad end of an arse whooping. Good hustle but FTs, bad shots and being "turrible" behind the 3pt line do them in.

No joke. Under 40% from the field, under 50% from the line, and outrebounded. On top of that, Shaq can't hit the broad side of a barn, and the defense gets to essentially ignore him when he's on the court. Finally, we don't have a legitimate PG at this point. Going to be a rough go of it over the next 5-10 games. Hopefully they figure it out by then.

Also, losing to a team that's never made the NCAA tourney in its history doesn't feel too good either.

Those guys looked like a bunch of freshmen.....oh wait, they areðŸ‘ðŸ». Haven't been too impressed with Allen thus far this season.

We got run out of the gym in that one. Pretty poor all the way around. Hope they can use that as a learning experience and get better. Last year we lost some games early that were ugly so I have faith they will improve.

Well, at least we have basketball season to look forward to!
I believe we still do. While the team made a lot, and I mean a lot, of bad decisions last night, I think Smart will and can correct them.

You also can't shot under 50% at the FT line and win games. As far as Allen, he showed some good promise last night but he also looked like a true freshmen at times too. Let's hope Cleare played his worse game ever, he was that bad last night. Losing Banks didn't help the team defensively but that was pretty stupid what he did.

That's the problem - this team can't shoot.

Not from the charity stripe and they're too inconsistent from outside. We have no reliable bomber. Period

I could be alone on this, but running that many offensive possessions through Shaq was driving me nuts. He doesn't have the offensive game to do that. Shaq should be getting his "offensive touches" on rebounds and putbacks or the occasional bucket off a defensive breakdown.

I think Allen's game will get better as the season goes on and the game slows down for him. Also, I think the quasi-early foul trouble kept him from finding his rhythm. If I remember correctly, he had 2 fouls in the first 10 minutes of the game.

As for Banks, I thought that was a terrible call and didn't warrant an ejection.

I'm hoping by the time we reach the conference schedule, Jones is running the point and our starting front court is Allen and Banks.

Yea, I wasn't sure it deserved an ejection myself but there was zero need to do what he did.

Shooting was definitely off last night but that happens. Sometimes the rim seems extra small and sometimes it seems huge. However if you're a shooter, you have to keep shooting. Let's see how the team rebounds today.

i agree with this.  at one point in the game the announcers stated UT was 6-17 from the line.  that's horrible.  it didn't seem to me that they moved the ball around enough to get better looks.  it was just drive and shoot or dribble around and shoot.

For me, a lot of the issues stem from not having a true PG at this point. IMO, the only one that can fill that role is Jones. Hopefully he can grow into that role by conference play.
