*****TEXAS vs. IOWA STATE Game Thread*****

If what I read is correct, Collin Johnson was not targeted one time in the first half. And finished the night with only 2 catches for the game.

I loved the sideways passing and running plays that always went nowhere. Is Greg Davis back? The offense tonight was offensive. The defense played lights out. Herman will get us back, but it'll take some new offensive recruits. Until we get those, this offense will go nowhere. Calling all OL recruits out there........come on down.

Porter out-played Warren tonight. Malik and Elliott played lights out tonight, along with the rest of the D. Speaking of Boyd, he played what I believe is his best game at Texas. You can tell we're missing some of the O-linemen that are hurt and out for the year.

BTW, do some of yall not realize we won tonight? Remember what happened last time we went to Iowa St? HOOK'EM!

My view of Ehlinger...

On his first road game, in that environment and the stakes, he grew up during the game.

Directed a 14-play 91-yard drive to take the lead with less than a minute to play.

In my book, in only his second start, if I were in charge, I would bet the season on him.

My point is this: If Sam can hang in there with USC, how much more can he develop if you just put in there and give it a try?

I do not see Shane playing any better. Ever. It's a plateau. I see no great change from a year ago.

At least there can be an upside to Ehlinger. Can be. I'd sure like to see.

He scored in one overtime against USC and almost in the 2nd but for a stripped ball in a scrum.

We are screwed if we cant find some OLinemen and OC and RB coach who has a clue.  Atleast they actually played Carter tonight.

I like Porter and Carter for the RBs.  They have movement and things are happening. Warren just has not developed some of that.

Haha, thats funny.  They both sucked but then again had no holes.  Carter was better than both.  Since when is 39 yards on 17 carries considered good.

WTF is wrong with you guys.  Porter shouldnt even be a RB.  No burst.  No speed.  No vision.  No quickness.  My great granny could tackle him.

Other than NLeininger's and "Sam's running ability" at the 2.2 ypc, Porter is the second worst on this team.  Carter should be starting.

Lulz. The biggest problem with the offense tonight not even mentioned.

Herman in the post game (LHN) is a helluva lot more upbeat than me.

Maybe I should just shut up. Okay, I will.

My Game ball goes to Elliot.  Sack, 2 picks, TD saving hit which probably saved this game for Texas.  That hit was a duplicate....minus the non-called targeting.... of his hit vs ND last season.

Well to me it seemed Porter ran harder late in the game when he needed to. So that's why I stated what I did.

Great performance by the defense tonight.

I have been as critical about #7 as anyone but Herman coaches old school.  The second that FG went through to make it 17-7 he was in prevent offense.  It may not excite people but he doesn't believe in giving games away.  Mitigate the risk and walk out of Ames with a W.

Still would like to see Daniel Young in action.  Of course  maybe he can't block or hasn't picked up the offense enough.  Awesome offense to pick up I might add here... He seemed big and shifty vs SJSU in garbage time.  Carter's catch was great.
