as an ex-hbu baller i welcome the ass kicking tonight. wish
we would have stayed NAIA and relevant. we were 90 something- 13-15'ish
while i was there- ranked 1-10 nationally at all times. shat the bed
during the NAIA tourney as high seed, cant remember exactly. we
avg'd over 107'ish a game. good times. have stood in 6 teammates
weddings and have attended 3 fathers of players funerals. was a great
experience. we were mostly d-1 transfers that grew up playing in the
Houston area together.
quick story...
Assistant Coach Steven Key is a great man, he lost his daughter Emma a
couple of years ago in a tragic car accident that him, his wife, and
other daughter were involved in. Emma was born during my time there and
they didnt have the easiest time getting preggo if I recall. They were so happy when Emma came into the world and we celebrated her as a team. Just like Savvy, red hair and all. Sad story, great man.
Coach Cottrell and Coach Key are 2 of the finest peeps you could know.
We had a family atmosphere while I was there and I will always cherish
those memories.
