***Texas vs Baylor Baseball Weekend Thread***

Cantu had a good game, glad to see that even though he looked a little weird running around 3rd base that one time.

One thing I noticed is Texas loses only 3 SRs but is that a good thing or bad thing?

At this point, it would be a selfish act for Augie to decide to come back, no matter what the powers to be decide.  He has had a wonderful career that has ended with a thud.  Augie is ultimately responsible for the product on the field, which has been in a steady decline.  He needs to do the right thing and step down and UT needs to look outside the program for his replacement.

A couple of things to think about with regards to this subject.
Augie has a team to get ready for the Big12 Tournament. Regardless of his age, he is a highly competitive guy. It is not necessarily in the team's best interest to say he's stepping down right now.

Augie has a contract with UT through 2017. I'm not certain on this, but I believe if he resigns/retires, he would forfiet the buyout in his contract.

Let this play out. Let's hope the team can play a bit of a spoiler in OKC this week and win a few for coach.

And I think the wheels are in motion regarding someone outside the program. (See the Augie thread)

This shouldn't be a worry. Augie only makes $1.04 million per year.

If Augie is unwilling to retire because he doesn't want to give up the money, just work something out. Giving him like $750K to just walk away is nothing.

Normally I would say just fire the man, but if money is an issue I wouldn't mind working something out. I think Augie deserves to "retire" vs get "fired".

I think the AD will put a pretty bow on whatever the decision is.

Since Augie has repeatedly said he's not resigning, hard to 'pretty-bow' it if he's not coming back.

Like I said before I wish he had deflected the question, both parties reach a financial settlement and we move on.

Of course Augie may think 'screw you, I ain't quitting. Let's see if you have the balls to fire me'
