Texas vs Air Force - Game 2

After giving up a leadoff HR to AF, Texas scores 2 in the 1st courtesy of Stehly's 2 run shot and 6 in the bottom of the 2nd with Ardoin's bases clearing double doing most of the damage. Texas up 8-1, top of the 3rd. Sthele on the mound for the Horns.

AF scores 5 in the top of the 3rd with a double & 2 HRs. 8-6 Texas going to the bot of the 3rd. Where's @joeywa?

Bot of the 5th, Hodo doubles in Campbell who had walked. Top of the 6th, 9-6 Horns.

Melendez scores on an Ardoin sac fly, 10-6 top of the 7th

Back to back solo HRs (I believe that's 5 for the game) by AF, going to the bot of the 7th, 10-8 Horns.

Ump with a questionable call on strike 3, Peirce goes to talk to him and is promptly thrown out. Still bot of the 7th w/2 outs & a runner at 2nd.

Melendez pops out w/ runners at 1st & 2nd. Going to the 8th, 10-8 Horns.

BTW, Melendez isn't swinging the bat like before he was hurt. I'm thinking it's still nagging him. It was almost like AF unintentionally/intentionally walked Todd to get to him.

Southard in to pitch for Texas and strikes out all 3 batters he faced. Going to the bot of the 8th.

After the 2nd out, the Ump gets hit in the head by a pitch and left to get checked out thus the delay. New ump and crew is down to 3.

Horns go down in order. Going to the top of the 9th with Nixon as the probable pitcher. 10-8 Horns

Nixon gives up a lead-off HR (6th of the game I believe) and then back to back singles. After a force at 2nd, AF pulls a safety squeeze and ties up the game at 10. Horns batting in the bot of the 9th.

Thank goodness we pulled out this win.

Several rankings sites released post-season predictions. Texas 15 seed in one, the other had us being the 2 seed at the DBU regional. We really gotta get it together to host a regional at this point.

Southard pitched well for his 1 inning of work, struck out the side. Nixon has lost his mojo, I think that steal of home by the Tech player has messed up his mind.

Agree, Texas should have beat them both times. To give AF credit though, they've only played 8 home games this season. They are also not afraid to swing the bat.

Work travel has returned. It has overlapped with a few games so far.  If given the choice, I will do PBP on Twitter rather than a thread on here, mainly because the game threads here get very little interaction. 
 

Just got back from a trip last night, so all I did was listen to the game on the flight. Traveling again next week, so Tuesday is likely up in the air.

I don't log onto the site while I'm on my phone but I did follow your threads in stealth mode, which I truly appreciated. I may actually have to open a daym twitter account now just to follow your baseball threads!  ?
