Texas RB signee Derrian Brown hospitalized with undisclosed illness

Prayers for this young man and his family. Speedy recovery. #HookEM. I would hope Texas honors his ship, the best education he can receive to build a life, with or without football.

Poor guy. I hope he comes out okay! I doubt he can ever play football again so I trust Texas does the right thing and honor his scholarship still.

Praying for a full recovery for him.
absolutely. In fact, I hope we go one better and send Herman or Beck or Stan by his home to check on the family and see how they are doing. It is the right thing to do and the sort of good thing that pays karma dividends down the road. Get well soon young man.

Traditionally, UT has honored kids scholarships if they are injured after they commit, even if they must go on a medical. I don’t know if that require’s one year on a football scholarship, counting against the 25/85.

The last I recall was the RB from Newton.

I hate this for Derrian, but there is and should be, a reward for loyalty.

Hook ‘em!

The latest post on the Caring Bridge site says Derrian started talking the day after he started walking again.

He is now in a private room and expects to start pt Tuesday or Thursday.

Sounds like he is continuing to improve. Please keep the prayers coming for Derrian.

I saw a report today that said Brown was walking and talking today. He's been moved from ICU to a regular room now. He should begin rehab in the next week. His progress has beaten expectations.

This is fabulous news. At this rate, he may very well play football again.
