Texas Just Landed QB Zach Gentry

Sejjr, the level of competition does not change his measureables, nor does it change Strong's ability to evaluate talent and desire. I'll take Strong's record any day of the week. We all have a little post-Mack ptsd, imo.

Hook 'em!

Unless I'm completely off base here I think Quentin Dormady from Boerne will be the next 2015 QB commit. He has all the tools and the size to be a great addition to the UT class.

I have no issues with him, and his tools are off the charts. He looks like a great prospect, despite his competition. I believe in Strong's record as well. In fact, I couldn't be more encouraged after the NFL draft to see what a real developer and identifier of talent can do at Texas. This is a great start.

Couple of thoughts

1-He's not a pro style QB. After watching his HUDL film, he's a dual threat.

2-Reading the over 130 page thread on Volnation was pretty hysterical. They went through all five stages of grief yesterday.

3-Strong's strict rules might scare some players off, but the parents sure like them. From what I've seen/read his parents love Strong's strictness.

I really don't like his footwork in the pocket. But fortunately, that is something that a decent QB Coach can help fix. I have no doubts that Watson will do good things with this kid. I'm excited about this pickup. Not only because he has a great arm, a solid football mind and some plus athleticism but also because he's an OOS guy. If there is anything that Texas has needed to get better at, it's recruiting OOS. I'm looking forward to seeing this kid suit up in the Burnt Orange and do his thing.

Very good info in this thread, guys!

It's funny that ole Vol nation is melting down. I wonder if I would get a few bad looks if I wore some longhorn gear when I head into Knoxville today.

Boerne starts 7-on-7 play next Tuesday in Somerset. Curious to see how it goes.

We might be nitpicking but he seems to be a mobile pro style guy, hard to bring down and runs well . . .which makes me think younger Ben Rothenberg.   not a "shifty" runner like a Vince or J Heard or Colt ..  .

But again, only from highlights. . .and I very much like his mobility .. . and his arm. . .

OMG htownhorn, please remove those horrible humongous numbers off of the helmet, before they end up suffocating the bevo decal.  surely, you would not want to be accused of killing bevo?

He is a big sun-a-uv-gun. ...
My hope is he's not too tall, there aren't many 6 ' 7 tall quarterbacks in the pros or college that have been successful. Brock Osweiler had success at Arizona State a couple of years ago and is now backing up Peyton Manning in Denver. If he develops into a good college QB, he's going to be a load to tackle.
