Fillinger, Corner Canyon sack Oren 30-14
Recent Longhorn commit Van Fillinger was the first to see action as they opened their season defeating the reigning Utah Class 4-A State Champs, Oren, 30-14. Fillinger had at least one sack although defensive statistics were not available.
In other interesting games coming up, Lufkin and Jerrin Thompson will open their season in traditional style, but this time against the reigning Texas Class 6A Div II state champs, Longview. Longview is led by 5-star QB recruit Haynes King.
You may want to make plans to see the Lake Travis vs Mansfield Timberview game in Week 2 of the Texas High School season (Sept. 6). There will be three Texas commits involved in that game although Lake McRee will not be playing. Lake Travis QB Hudson Card will be facing fellow Texas commit and Mansfield Timberview RB Jaden Hullaby. The game will be played at Lake Travis.
