***Texas Baseball vs Houston Baptist Midweek Game Thread***

Little bit of lineup shakeup tonight.

T1

Morehouse works a 1-2-3 frame

Scoreless headed B1

First 4 Texas hitters get hits and score, concluded by a Stehly 2-run HR.

Texas up 4-0 thru 1 complete

T2

Morehouse with another 1-2-3 frame

Horns up 4-0 headed B2

B2

Horns load the bases with 1 out. Stehly FO3; 2 outs.  Chopper up the middle for FC U4 ends the frame

Horns up 4-0 thru 2

Texas calls on Joshua Stewart in relief.

T3

Stewart issues a lot of free passes, HBU gets an RBI single and an RBI walk.  Pierce calls on Stevens with 2 outs, bases loaded.  Stevens comes in and gets a KS to end the frame

Horns up 4-2, headed B3

Midweek games is for seeing whatplayers can do. but why pulla pitcher who is 6 up and 6 down, for aguy who apparently cannot hit the broad side of a barn inside with the door shut.

B3

Horns load em up with walks and 2 outs, but Whitehead KS ends the frame

Horns up 4-2 thru 3

Because he threw a career high last Tuesday, and was used on Sunday.  He was on a pitch count and he hit that point.

As to your 2nd question, I don't know.  I know that coaches are looking to see who can provide innings and throw strikes today.

T4

Duplantier on to pitch the 4th.

2 quick outs.  Then he walks two & gives up an RBI single before closing out the frame

Horns up 4-3 headed B4

B4

Horns get a single by Melendez, single by Stehly moving Melendez all the way to 3B, FC by Ardoin plates a run, and an E6 makes all hands safe

Horns add another after a bases loaded walk with 2 down.

Thru 4, Texas up 6-3

T5

Olivarez comes on to pitch the 5th.  Gives up a 1-out single, but that's all

Horns up 6-3 headed B5

Agree with coach for pulling him. I have no access to box scores.

To me practice is to see if pitchers can throw strikes.

I know you can take a 12 year old who is as wild as a march hare and train to throw strikes. Orns pitchers are young men and been in baseball quite a while.

B5

Whitehead single up the middle, Melendez double off LCF wall puts 2 RISP, Stehly HBP loads em up

Ardoin HBP; RBI; Horns up 7-3

Messinger walked, Horns up 8-3, no outs

HBU goes to the pen

Daly PH for Campbell, and he's HBP, it's now 9-3, no outs

Schuessler IF single RBI, bases still loaded; 10-3

Faltine up, WP plates one, SAC Fly plates another, 12-3; 1 out

Hodo KS;  2outs

Whitehead RBI double; 13-3

Melendez INT WALK

Stehly F7 ends it

Horns up 13-3 thru 5 and 3 hours

A) They had no practice this week.

B Texas bullpen has little confidence in themselves, and that's a huge issue.

T6

Sthele on to pitch.

He hits the first batter he sees.  Gives up a single, then a walk to load em up

Gets a 1-2-3 DP; 2 RISP, 2 outs

Another walk; bases loaded

6-3 ends it and amazingly, no runs score

Horns up 13-3 headed B6
