Ouch. This team is just having a difficult time winning games. Huge momentum shift not getting another run home in the top of the 9th.

I think for a while I will just check final scores. My following the game thread Is obviously not good karma. It's also not good for my blood pressure.

Not overly concerned about the ending of this game. I think that there are some areas that can be worked on, but overall this game showed that this team can come back and play through adversity. No quit in them.

You know I love you Joey. But what this game showed as well as many others is we are not good enough to be a factor in the postseason.

I am very much concerned about the ending of the game because we lost the f##ker. We are not showing signs of improvement.

Besides we are not supposed to be rebuilding at Texas. We are supposed to be re-loading.and we are not recruiting well enough to do that. And haven't for quite a while.

We lost but you need to look at the game as a whole. The challenging thing is when you don't have the benefit of seeing the game you don't see some of the issues presented.

Example: UCLA had a submariner pitching at the end. While we think a safety squeeze is the right call, what you don't know is that the UCLA IF was pinched and playing to get the out at the plate. That means with one out and 1B open, you need a fly ball, a base hit or hard grounder. Gurwitz took the first pitch strike. He then swung at the next two sliders, which started behind him and ended in the LH batters box. Nasty pitches.

So while we look at this as a perfect scenario for a squeeze, it wasn't.

Also, first inning Boswell has a gift wrapped DP to get us out of the inning with no damage. He whiffs on it and they score those two guys on two consecutive hits to take a 2-0 lead.

Bear I understand your expectations. I think you may have to temper them a bit. This isn't the 80s or 90s. There are different scholarship limits now, BBCOR bats and it's a different landscape in college baseball now. There are no more real powerhouses full of gorilla hitters. It's a different era.

Appreciate your comments and feedback, and I'd love nothing more than to go 48-4 over the course of the season. I do see this team hitting better than many of our recent Texas teams, which is a plus. We've had two HRs in as many games. A bushel of hits. Our problem today was some weird defensive miscues.

"Our problem today was some weird defensive miscues."

Our problem today is we lost.

Damn. Don't take it so personally.

As frustrated as you may be, I can guarantee you those in the unis feel worse about it.

I know they do. And I certainly don't take it personally because I don't know a single one of them.

Just stating an opinion.

Baseball is really a very simple game. As Willie said "they throw it, I hit it. They hit it, I catch it."

All three phases of our game are eratic. Pitching, hitting, fielding. We don't do anything really well.

It's very difficult to win when you're not really good at any phase of the game. And it's really difficult to be good at any phase of the game without the talent. It is what it is.

Maybe I'll be singing a different tune by the end of the season. I have eaten crow before.

I truly hope you are eating crow. These guys are showing flashes of really good things, unfortunately about the half the time they're two steps forward one step back. So, let's just see how they respond tomorrow.
