I guess after looking at this I have done a turn around. The landscape in college football is changing and I see more of this. I remember when Nebraska and Colorado left the future of the Big XII was predicted to be short lived. I think the Aggies leaving is actually a smart move. Texas is going either to a super conference or become an independent. It is just a matter of when if you look at the terminology in the agreement between UT and ESPN. They spent a lot of time on out clauses and right of first refusal for this not to be happening. I am even convinced that the powers to be are not upset in the least by the Aggies bolting.
They will retain the games with OU and TAM, add maybe Notre Dame and another big school and that is it. The rest will be filled with some directional school from La or Fla.. They will align with a school for other sports like basketball and baseball.
TAM knew this and that is why they are leaving. I think it is less than a "pissed off'' and more of a smart move. Think if UT bolted and they were out in the cold. It happened to TCU and it could happen to them. Not only that but it is a huge financial move for the university. What would happen if UT did this and the SEC wasn't an option? I am still surprised the SEC wants them.
UT is going to do what is best for them and really gave little consideration to TAM and OU when they created the network with ESPN. So why should the Aggies not do the same? Now as for playing in the SEC, like Arkansas they will have to settle for the money and not much else.
