Ed Reed in 2013 sucks and is one of the worst Safeties in the league. KC would be dumb to get a S that can not run.

Huff is best one available right now.

You dont bring on Reed at this point for his ability per se, you bring him on because he has been on Super Bowl winning teams and has extensive playoff experience.

It sounds like he can be a cancer if he's not happy. Time and injuries have caught up to him and I'm not sure he would be happy in a leadership/non playing role.
