Four star quarterback Tanner McKee out of Corona Centennial made his way to Austin this weekend to check out the Longhorn program. Here is some of the feedback I gathered from McKee about his trip.

How the overall visit went:

"It was awesome. I loved it. Coach Beck and the whole staff were really good to us. Felt like family there. Everyone is aligned to help the team succeed."

His future visit plans and if he plans on making a return trip to Austin:

"ASU is my last trip. Last weekend of May. I would love to get back down to Texas in the fall."

Where Texas stands and when he plans on narrowing his list:

"I will narrow it down to 10 or so schools in a month. Then prob top 5 in fall sometime. Texas will be high on my list."

If Texas can pull this kid on top of what they already have in the fold, then they are going to be set at quarterback for awhile. This kid is a stud.

I get Rising and Thompson in a down year for Texas QBs and Texas running short on scholarship QBs.  I don't understand why we would be locking up 2020 with an out of state QB.  Is this a reflection on what the coaches think will be available in Texas?  I'm not worried about it as I trust this staff is way out in front of this type of thing.  I just can't imagine what Texas high school coaches think about Texas loading up their QB room with out of state guys when you typically take one player at that position per year.  Who knows what our QB depth chart looks like in 2020 and maybe that's the point.  It is just confusing.  I've got to admit that the momentum part of it is intriguing.

They're likely taking an instate kid in 2019 so that should balance things out a little. HS coaches aren't nearly as upset about the new staff going OOS as the previous one, but that's a conversation for another day.

I cant see how he doesnt get left behind by the time he.finishes his 2 year mission.

It appears that every cycle we are excited for a new crop of players and often overlook the previous cycle that was signed. 2 years from now we will probably have 4 new qbs that are looked at as the next great one.

Idk maybe this viewpoint is due to so many hit and misses on players that made the roster over the last few years.
