"Suppose There Is A Chance Of Saban To Texas" How Would He And Powers Coexist?

Ok, finally back at my house.
Right to this . . . I spoke with a customer of mine who has been one of my sources for info. For those who don't know, Green Thumb has about 80 Longhorn customers, he's one of them.

Ever since Black Friday and the Saban renew thing, he's been steady with saying Saban's ship has sailed. To the point I'd almost stopped asking about it. But after listening to him talk to me about the chances of Jim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer, Art Briles, etc. and then listening to him elaborate on them and of course, give his own opinion on things. I paused and said to him that I sensed he was intentionally dismissing Saban, seemingly with purpose, and that I felt he was holding back and covering on it.

Long pause.

We're still after Saban. He's again listening. Everything that existed before, continues to exist.

I've talked since then (on my way in this evening) with another guy who is well connected. His source, much different than mine, confirmed that he was told the same thing.

I'm not going to guess what the odds are on Saban, I'm just not sure. But I know we were at the altar and about to say "I do" before the father of the groom $#@! his pants.

The pant crapper and his boss are both out of the picture and are pretty much out of this thing, despite what some posters are saying above. Mack's kinda wandering around doing his own thing and who knows what that is, but he's shut out here.

Patterson is working very hard, making LOTS of calls, calls to the right people. The guy is pure bad ass, when he's left to do things his way.

At this point, I don't care if we get Saban or not. We've got the two top people I liked (Saban is one of them) with their full attention. The other is Harbaugh. And I'll not speak on that because someone else here is probably going to at some point soon. IMO, no matter how we come out of this, we're going to be very happy.

Clarification - I don't mean to imply that these are the only folks Patterson is talking to. A number of other nice candidates have as well, including Jim's brother John.

At least you're not joining your UNC spouse on a trip to NC to see all the NC fan in-laws like one guy here is about to do.

A trip to NC would be great this time of year. My sister and her family live in Clemmons, NC. My mom's entire side of the family live in and around the town of Kernersville. Have fun with the in-laws. I am thankful my wife's family is a 25 hour flight away

I'd love to replace Bill Powers with someone who is willing to cut some liberal arts programs at UT - they have been a waste of tax payer's money and a drag on UT's drive to close the gap with premiere public schools like UC Berkeley.

As for Mack Brown being a "special assistant to the President", he can be re-assigned when new president is in.

Bottom line, even assuming they are incompatible (I don't know that they are) and need to meet regularly, it's really not a big deal because there are often some incompatible faculties even within the same department at UT. That's just a matter of life at a big, bureaucratic school. There are lawsuits among members of the school faculty and administration every year.
