"Suppose There Is A Chance Of Saban To Texas" How Would He And Powers Coexist?

I think for Saban to come 3 things need to happen, just my guess:
1.Mack must be out period, out of the 40acres, out of Belmont, out of Austin.
2.Powers needs to announce that he will step down in June or July or Aug or whenever this year.
3.Keep everything quite. I dont want to know about Saban until the press conference and Saban takes off the Santa costume.

Yep, i know.
I have seen lots of comments from posters on various sites complaining about Patterson picking this committee. Its interesting that the committee was handed to him and that the same committee could pick an AD, Coach, and President. Not because of the coach they get, but that the university will have 3 public faces all picked to further the same vision.
At a macro level its the opposite of the way Mack recruited players. He seemed to end up with a hodge podge of players that were best fit for conflicting playing styles. Pro-style and spread etc.

Ok, finally back at my house.
Right to this . . . I spoke with a customer of mine who has been one of my sources for info. For those who don't know, Green Thumb has about 80 Longhorn customers, he's one of them.
Ever since Black Friday and the Saban renew thing, he's been steady with saying Saban's ship has sailed. To the point I'd almost stopped asking about it. But after listening to him talk to me about the chances of Jim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer, Art Briles, etc. and then listening to him elaborate on them and of course, give his own opinion on things. I paused and said to him that I sensed he was intentionally dismissing Saban, seemingly with purpose, and that I felt he was holding back and covering on it.
Long pause.
We're still after Saban. He's again listening. Everything that existed before, continues to exist.
I've talked since then (on my way in this evening) with another guy who is well connected. His source, much different than mine, confirmed that he was told the same thing.
I'm not going to guess what the odds are on Saban, I'm just not sure. But I know we were at the altar and about to say "I do" before the father of the groom shit his pants.
The pant crapper and his boss are both out of the picture and are pretty much out of this thing, despite what some posters are saying above. Mack's kinda wandering around doing his own thing and who knows what that is, but he's shut out here.
Patterson is working very hard, making LOTS of calls, calls to the right people. The guy is pure bad ass, when he's left to do things his way.
At this point, I don't care if we get Saban or not. We've got the two top people I liked (Saban is one of them) with their full attention. The other is Harbaugh. And I'll not speak on that because someone else here is probably going to at some point soon. IMO, no matter how we come out of this, we're going to be very happy.
Clarification - I don't mean to imply that these are the only folks Patterson is talking to. A number of other nice candidates have as well, including Jim's brother John.

My brain can't take any more weeks like last week, I'm hanging it up w/ the NS talk... (but not cancelling my TideSports subscription because subconsciously I'm hoping to see them start sweating it again, so maybe I'm not hanging it up? #neurotic) I spent $250 on Longhorn ornaments to comfort my mom, the booze is already running swiftly this Christmas. I foresee lots of drunken yell-fests over the next week. I'm eager for New Year to roll around, hoping we'll start seeing a lot more solid intel after the holidays.

You know by last Sunday I heard "Saban to Texas not dead", by Monday it was "Saban still in play for Texas", Tue it was the chatsports.com article that said "if you can wait, let's talk after Jan 3rd"...now this info from sirhornsalot. Seems to me that Saban is trying his damdest to get here (for whatever reason, we may never know) and the only way he will be denied the job is if we decide we do not want him. Maybe the University of Texas already had him before he signed the Bama extension...with a convenient No Buy Out clause. One thing is for sure, he can recruit, he can coach and he strikes fear into the heart of the opponent...but the main reason I want him to come to Texas is so we can put up a billboard that reads "The University of Alabama messed with Texas, and the bull gave 'Em the HORNS" ...or maybe not that cheesy but damnit something like that!
