Support Texas football

regardless of how any Longhorns fan feels about whether Charlie Strong is the right fit at Texas it is time for all Texas fans to give full support for the team. Charlie will coach team in 2016 whether you like it or not but  hopefully with addition of very talented 2016 recruiting class so we need to quit talking about hiring Herman or Chip Kelly or any other coach. let`s give Charlie the 2016 season and we can judge his future after 2016 season has played out. for those that want him gone your reward is if team falters with another poor season that will seal his fate. if 2016 turns around you get to witness your team surge back to life. it is a win/win for those anti-Strong because either Texas wins or the new coach has 2 talented classes of recruits waiting. my reason for bringing this up you see what is going on to the east of ATX and what that is doing to recruiting.  kids change minds almost daily let`s not give them reason to avoid being a Longhorn.

You are right, Strong is here for this coming year at least. Whither i like it or not he is here, so i fully support him and this team. It would bring a lot of joy to me if Strong does turn the corner and becomes the coach we all thought he would be when he was first hired.

There seems to be a common misconception on this board which is "If you dont believe Strong is the best HC for this team then you are rooting for his failure and this teams failure".  Not being a fan of Strong and wanting the team to fail are not mutually inclusive of each other. 

I am an alum, I love my school, I love my horns, I love Strong as a person but I do NOT believe he is the best available HC we could get.  I want us to win every game, but for now I will take any sign improvement or at the very least being competitive vs Iowa States.  The best sports day this year for me was the spanking we put on HoeU.  

If Strong turns this around then great.  He will be in his 3rd year, so next year some of his kids will be Juniors.  We shall see.  Gilbert adds optimism, a year late but hope nonetheless.  We should be much improved next year.

The solution is easy:  Stop getting blown out and win more than 5 or 6 games a year and then the love will flow.  

But regardless I understand your point.

No, no DMAC. Nobody on this board believes that you or anyone else on this board wants Charlie or the team to fail. Anyone who reads your posts understands that you are a good and passionate fan.

Your opinion that Charlie may not the best man for the job is shared by several others on this board, and you may be exactly right. I guess we will all know more next year.

To Danny's point, though, Charlie's going to be here at least one more year. With NSD just around the corner, and with so many fans calling for a new coach, that makes Charlie's job recruiting just that much harder.

I'm not, and I don't think Danny is, criticizing anyone for having a different opinion. Heck, I may even agree with you.

This is nothing more than a plea for patience. (at least until after NSD)

Could have been worse. A lot of folks have that sentiment. Some of our own fans are rooting for failure just to get that.

No true fan roots for failure for their school just to get another HC.  If they do they are not fans.

I can say I feel better about the program after the bowl games.

Did not see across the board a lot of foundation in the programs.

A little bit of cream at the top, and a whole lot of not very-well grounded football.

Maybe it was the "I'm not really that motivated" at play. Can't say for sure.

I know what's been unfolding here has not worked very well and forked over some awful game stats.

And the questions about the staff.

But could be... could be... some solid foundation bricks are being laid.

Two unknowns for the spring and fall. A completely different OC and offensive situation in general, and what this many freshmen will play like one year older.

I find it amusing that some people think the HornSports message board influences a recruit's decision about signing with UT.

If that were indeed the case, aggy would never sign anybody. Have you seen TexAgs lately?

JB, I don`t think recruits are influenced by posts on message boards but they are influenced by negativity surrounding coaching staffs.
