Could it have been a factor? Would he have been offered without that cloud over the athletic dept.

Ugh,

Could it be that Texas offered the person that they thought was the best fit for the job, could it be that all the scuttle we were hearing was not really going down at all.

All the conspiracy theories are mind blowing.

Highly unlikely that is any sort of factor. It's a $1 million lawsuit. At a University with an $18 billion endowment. It's an important lawsuit from a public relations perspective and is being handled as such, but I just don't think the University needs any sort of "cover" for this lawsuit.

Interesting post. NOT!!!!!!
Come on. This is getting past freaking ridiculous.
Couldn't agree more. It's embarrassing how much ignorance is emerging because of this hire.

I'm just asking the question, if you think it had no part of hire then fine. I love the hire but something seems a foul with it ,just was curious

I think its a very good question. I hope that isnt the case but we dont know whats going on behind the scene.

That lawsuit is an attempt at legal extortion. It is not a winner on the merits. It's a play for a settlement.

If it were up to me, I would just litigate it and let the jury decide.

So some professors had affairs with students? Is this a shock to anyone?

Some of the improper relationships were no doubt same sex. Does anyone even still care about this kind of stuff anymore?

Perhaps one involved Powers, many years ago. I don't really care about this, but definitely do not think Powers' reputation and personal wishes should ever be put before the school's interests. To the extent that the University attorneys are doing this now to save Powers from embarrassment, then they are failing at their basic fiduciary duty and should be fired right away. People like this are easily replaced, do not let them ever fool you on this point.

One of my UT roommates and I used to LOL all the time that our master plan was to make enough money to retire early, so we could come back to UT as Assistant English Composition profs and slay the never-ending supply of incoming freshmen co-eds. I know this is mean and evil and dastardly now. But we were young and foolish at the time, so forgive us. Besides, we never actually did it. It was all just drunken blather. But I have no doubt some folks did exactly this. I saw some of them at work when I was in school there. And it was not all in the English Department.

Who cares (so long as legal minors were not involved)? I say stonewall the Kearney people and let the chips fly where they may. The cleansing process that this action might bring about would do the school some good anyway. Let the sun shine in, and watch the rats run for cover.

Ugh, come on guys. For better or worse Strong is the coach and has a good chance of being a great fit. We have a coach not a CEO and I for one are happy for that.

I understand that it's just a question, let me ask, what do you feel is foul exactly? I think that it is important to remember that what is said in these forums about potential hires does not always reflect whats going on in the real world. Not saying that anyone if feeding us lies, I don't believe that at all. What I do believe is that guys are fed information from people w deep pockets and special interest, that want "their" guy.

Easy there Cellmate. I'm fine with the Strong hire if he'll actually accept asap. I found the post interesting simply because of all the political bs going on with the lawsuit. I didn't necessarily agree with the post and I don't know that the OP agrees, he was just throwing it out there. I wouldn't equate the post or the fact that some like me find it interesting as an indictment against Strong whatsoever. I think he can and will do well here frankly.

Not doing due diligence in regards to the Hurtt situation. A 4 hour interview and that never was addressed or cleared up.

Hornsolo I can understand the issue you have with that, I just don't know that I buy that Hurt is the hold up, I know it's being reported that that could be an issue, it's also been reported that he wants to speak to Louisville president in person. The president is currently in Denver I believe, he also has a meeting with the team tomorrow at 5:00 P.M.

HornSolo = Idiot (on two boards)
I disagree w him, but we try to stay away from name calling dude, argue your point, spark a debate, but be respectful.

Rasta glad I could make you feel good about yourself on 2 boards. I was under the false illusion these were boards for open debate and discussion.
