Texas will be looking for their first road win of the season against West Virginia. The Mountaineers are 1-4 in the Big 12, but their first four opponents were Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor and TCU. I think this West Virginia team is tougher than their record shows. Texas needs to establish a run game early. Johnathan Gray and D’Onta Foreman need to each break away for a long run in the first drive. If Texas can establish a run game, the passing game will come. Heard got his confidence back last week against Kansas. The score will be a close one, but Texas will come out on top.
Score Prediction: Texas 32 West Virginia 28

I'm conflicted here. It seems like every time Charlie Strong's back has been against the wall he's come out swinging and pulled something off. With a need to take 2 out of the next 3 to get bowl eligible this is definitely a must win. On the other hand, the Longhorns have been dreadful in road games this season. Texas beat a better version of this team last year and West Virginia's turnover prone quarterback will give them a chance, but Morgantown is a tough place to play.

Texas has a habit of playing its best when everyone is counting it out and its back is against the wall. I have a habit of ignoring recent history. That's why I'm picking West Virginia to win. On a neutral site or at DKR, these are pretty similar teams. Texas has a better record (1-2, with the Alan Eckgazi game included as a loss, compared to 0-3) and better combined score (58-97 compared to 60-117) than Oklahoma State against shared opponents. The Longhorns also have a better offensive line and comparable if not better stable of running backs than they had last season when they racked up 227 yards on the ground at 5.8 per carry against a Mountaineers defense that wasn't playing without stud safety Karl Joseph. But Texas has given us zero reason to have confidence in it on the road, and Morgantown is a difficult place to play at any time of day. Take over 60.5 rushing yards for Skyler Howard and lay the points
Score Prediction: West Virginia 31 Texas20.

Texas has to win every winnable game to go bowling. The team should know this. If Texas loses this game, they will have to win out just to be bowl eligible.
This is still the same team that beat Oklahoma. Where everyone doubted them, they played to the talent that they promised to be out of high school. I believe they do the same here.
Score Prediction: Texas 35 West Virginia 24

This is a game both Texas and West Virginia need to win to continue on the path to bowl eligibility. The Longhorns are winless on the road this season and need a spark if they want to pull off the upset in Morgantown. Another road loss will have fans scratching their heads and looking forward to tough games against prolific offenses in Texas Tech and Baylor. Considering the stakes I’ll project that spark from running Back D’Onta Foreman that propels the Longhorns to field-goal victory over the Mountaineers.
Score Prediction: Texas 31 West Virginia 28
