Are defenses starting to figure out the spread? I don't have any numbers/statistics but it seems like spread offenses are struggling in comparison to years past. Clemson, WV, Tech, A&M, and Oklahoma State all struggled this year.

Even teams like Oregon and Baylor seem like they are putting up fewer numbers.

They most certainly are.

Last week there was only one spread offense ranked in the top 6 ands that was Clemson.

With that said, running a spread and having great stats does not equate to winning anything.

Moving on to pro ball, how many spread QB's are successful?

Not Cam Newton, Johnny Maziel, Robert Griffith 111.

The only two rookie QB's that are starting in the NFL, Bridgewater & Bortles came from a pro set offense.

There is a reason why offenses change to the "next" big thing. You will always have some sort of base offense, like the pro set, that takes a bit more talent and skill to run. However things like the spread, run and rhoot, or hell the triple option, will have spans of success as they are new and the defenses have to adjust. Once the defenses adjust then the production goes down.

Now that does not mean they can't have success. If you have an innovative OC that can keep tweaking things then the success can withstand a lot of the adjustments on the defensive side of the ball.
