I didnt see a thread that this really fit so thought I would start a new one

Good news. It looks like the National Letter of Intent is obsolete.

I always had a problem with the NLOI. It was mostly a one way contract intended to bind the player for the next season but with the new transfer & NIL rules it really isnt needed.

I think the next thing that will happen is the doing away with red shirting. the current free agency climate has made it obsolete.

How so? Seems to me a big part of transfer is players sitting out at a current school in order to redshirt and not use a year of eligibility.

Could be but I think it will change to something written in a business type contract. Might likely be a generalized so many games or 5-6yrs to play 4 + a medical.
Playing 4 games and then deciding to red shirt and transfer is ridiculous. that is not what a red shirt was intended for in the beginning.

But to be frank, I really havent put much thought into it. It's hard for me to really care.

In the current state, it seems to place less restrictions on players.

I do agree, I think employee type contracts are coming and that would potentially lock players into playing at a certain school for a certain period of time.

I hope Sark is right about K J Lacey because Russell looks really good

Hopefully, but on the other hand with the pipeline of Manning,Owens,Lacey and Bell the QB depth is looking excellent moving forward. It's unrealistic to expect all those guys to eventually be the guy. So... in general in Sark I trust, but particularly with respect to QBs.
