Speaking the truth, or sending a message?

As much as y'all have dissected the Swoopes vs Heard depth chart debate, I'm surprised this isn't getting more attention in the other thread:

Here's the full quote (for context): "The thing is, he's so athletic. I always say he's one of those guys who's very light on his feet because the pressure's coming to him, he's a guy that can get himself out of -- get himself away from the rush and then create plays on the perimeter by his feet. Where he's made a tremendous improvement is throwing the football.  He's hitting the open receivers, he's finding open receivers, making the correct checks.  And the thing about he's throwing the deep ball.  He's opened up and we throw the ball down the field some and he's doing a great job of doing it.  But it's just that he's just so much more comfortable and that's why I say he's closing the gap.  He's so comfortable back there now and everyone is seeing it, even his teammates are even seeing it."

Shawn Watson is scheduled to meet with the media at Noon today. I'm guessing we'll ask him about this.

This is good news and the kind of feedback we have all been seeking about young grasshopper.  But the devil's advocate in me says how much should you read into this or NOT read into this?  As Matt said, is CS speaking the truth or sending a message?

So here are few more questions:

If truth, has the "gap" been fully closed?

If truth, are Heard and Swoopes "even" now?

Or is this statement just positive coach-speak based on significant measurable improvement?

We will all be able to better judge for ourselves on Saturday.

Godz40acres has a quote he will share about CS re: this....

i suppose both speaking the truth AND sending a message could both be true.

and yes, the GIFs in this thread are excellent.

Not sure how far behind Heard actually is. I know on this board some of the guys that watched practice said he was still behind but other reports I've read(Jeff Howe) said he thought Heard was out playing Swoopes. We just have to take it all with a grain of salt and hopefully something will come to light on Saturday

No, SHA is never speechless.  Only momentarily distracted by landscapes such as Charlotte McKinney.
