Source: Patterson turns down Texas to stay at ASU

Sure its possible that we didnt offer Patterson and its possible he is trying to save face. Its also possible that Patterson was the first choice for AD but turned down the job. Some of us arrogantly assume no body will can say "no" to Texas. Lets get all the facts first.
Well said dude. I agree completely. No one knows what the hell is going on unless they are directly involved.

Maybe Patterson turned down an interview request.
This. I'd bet he turned down the interview request as he probably has seen or obtained enough info to know that Luck is the first choice, first option.

Guessing he doesn't want to be runnerup.

I do not think Patterson was ever offered the job. PR spin potentially.
That's what I'm thinking. Even if there was a phone call and ASU/ASU fans found out, about it he needs to save face.

Didn't he just sign a big contract extension w/ ASU? If so, he played his hand poorly. He could have procrastinated and got a bigger bump from ASU.

I'll wait to hear what mcphaul says before I believe that. I'm not sure why we would want that guy. I am trying to think of which asu sport is good?
We have talked to both Patterson & Del Conte that I am aware of.
