Sonny Cumbie and Texas

i'm sure there will be a press conference.  anyone know the tv people up here in the dallas metroplex?

From random poster:

Word is Perrin promised Cumbie that Strong would get a 4th year as long as they went to a bowl next year. Perrin felt like he had to make that commitment or Strong wouldn't be able to bring in any top notch OC.

It looks like the metric for Strong to get a 4th year has been established. It seems the bar may be a little lower for Strong next year than some of the big money boys may have wanted. Supposedly, Perrin got the support from the people he needed to make that commitment to Cumbie.

I just figured out what the hold up is. Sonny is waiting on AJ Abrams to get the deals of his new house ironed out. Must be a fax machine problem.

If we would have played a Baylor type non conference schedule, this season would be deemed a success for most as we prepare for a Bowl.
I like how it played out as we now are striving to have elite coaches/recruiters at every level

Speaking of which, I guess the Big 12's new rule pretty much guarantees a Baylor/Vanderbilt rivalry.

Scratch that, SEC wouldn't allow that. Baylor/Wake Forest will be intense though.

Cumbie's coaching career to this point has been filled with no-brainer decisions. He's been able to take gradual steps along the way. And while the next logical step is OC, this is an already big decision that's magnified by the fact that he's expected to come in and save the offense and job of a coach presumably on the hot seat. I don't blame him for taking his time and/or being conflicted about the decision. Hell, I'm only two months older and have conflicting thoughts anytime I simply think about testing the job market...It's a life altering decision - I'd want sufficient time to reflect if this was on my plate. I don't blame him for taking his time.
