The head football coach at UT is considered a state of Texas job. That means the job has to be posted 30 days prior to hiring the next coach. So the longer Mack wait the longer before a new coach can be "officially" hired.

UPDATED: Apparently it's 7-10 days

It is not 30 days. I think it is less than a week. And, by the way the University somehow got around having to post the AD's opening.

I cannot wait that long......you do hear me now or should I yell. "I WILL NOT WAIT THAT LONG"!! Now do you hear me

The 30 days is a common mistake. I saw that thread on OBloods. It's actually only 7 days

I'm almost certain it was not that long between Mack's hiring and Mackovic's firing, last time around.

John Mackovic was fired on November 29, 1997

Mack Brown accepted the Texas job on December 4, 1997 at 2:30pm

Cant find when his hiring was officially approved.

Hmmm weird I was told it would take 7 days after the season to name a new bball coach.

ways to get around that as Texas didnt post the AD job nor wait from what Ive seen
