So if NS really wanted to be at Texas, and the BMDs were really offering the huge oil & gas package to make him whole from the bad investments, why re-up on Friday night? Why not just wait until after the weekend to see how things shake out? By all accounts, most figured that Mack would not resign before or during the banquet in order to honor the kids. And most also figured that NS would not want to make such a huge move before or during the Heisman ceremony so as to honor AJ.
Thus the timeline was on track (Mack resigning over the weekend and NS announced on Mon/Tues) according to what McPhaul and others had shared.
This makes me think that either NS had a change of heart (not that he was ticked at some delaying by Mack) or that he is actually still in play.
I mean how easy would it be to say, "Everything I said about wanting to retire at Alabama was true, but then the Texas opening happened and I just could not turn it down."
Thoughts?
