Some BMDs worried

Yes, but that was to COME to Texas. And both of the schools they left were middle of the pack athletic depts.

In all my years following college football, Lane Kiffin is the only Head Coach I can remember that left a top tier football program for another top tier after one year. How did that work out for him? I doubt he gets another shot at a top tier program again. He's following the traditional ladder almost everyone else has had to follow. Position Coach - Coordinator - Lower or Middle Tier Head Coach - Top Tier Head Coach.
He didn't go from one tier program to another, but Todd Graham did it twice. He coached Rice for one year in 2006 and Tulsa 2007. He took the Pittsburgh job in 2010 and left one year later to Arizona State. He was hired by some AD named Steve Patterson. The Pittsburgh players were quoted as calling Graham a big liar.

I understand the way college football contracts work that a coach can leave for any job even with a contract, which helps top teams like UT when they need a new coach. I just don't think it shows high character to leave a job after one year.

I'm convinced that Strong stays even if Florida comes calling. I think Florida is smart enough to feel out an answer from Charlie before they'd offer, so you may never hear of an offer at all if Charlie tells them he's not interested.

Duece brought in a name that I find fascinating. Art Briles.

Briles has established himself as one of the premier offensive minds in the business. He is going to be a HOT commodity for any top program looking to make a change. I starting to wonder how long he has left at Baylor before he takes that offer he just can't turn down. Is Florida a job that he'd leave Baylor for? If not, what other job out there would get Briles to leave his home?

Interesting question.  Can't see him getting too far from TX for recruiting.  So our SEC neighbors that are closer??

I think he'd kill it at Florida.

Florida has built in relationships all over the state. He could retain an assistant or two to help with that but honestly, doors get opened for you down there. And what kid in Florida wouldn't want to play in that high-flying offense?

He'd drive Saban mad and make him retire. If Saban complains about Sumlin's offense, Briles' O will send him over the edge. lol

Combine those Florida recruits with the ability to cherry pick Texas, you might find some success there.

Why would Briles leave. New stadium, comfy job, good recruits, building a good team and program. If he goes undefeated the rest of the year he should make the playoffs.

At his age does he really need the money. Plus the stress of rebuilding an offense.
