Some BMDs worried

Heard today that a group of BMDs are growing concerned that Strong might be offered and accept the Florida job when it becomes vacant.

Anyone know what Strong's ties to Florida are outside of his previous gig at DC?

..... i am most certain that this is indeed the case....

...Let his butt go if he isn't man enough to rebuild this thing. Damn sure don't give him a raise to stay. hells bells we are 3-9 or 4-8 at best.

Let me clarify. Nothing I heard was coming from Charlie Strong or anyone near him. I was simply told the BMDs are growing more worried that Florida's coming after him and that he'll accept.

Regardless, these aren't the types to worry over nothing.

Hypothetically asking here . . . if he goes, who do you go after? Briles?

It would like a "BMD" to start that rumor because they'd rather have a different coach.

I'm not saying that's the case here. Just pointing out that most of these guys know how to generate buzz.
This comes from a group in Dallas, who helped Patterson with Strong in the early going. They're worried because they like the guy.

These are not the elder BMDs that McP speaks with.

Aren't we all glad we dodged lightning? I an very happy with Strong. It would be hard for him to leave, I suspect. And they can't/won't pay him the money we do, I would think.

From what I've read Florida will have no limitations when they go after a  coach. Foley will probably ask Stoops again like he always does.  Coach Strong was listed as someone they will probably go after, and also Rich Rod. Dan Mullen doesn't get along with Foley so he probably won't be offered. Coach Strong wanted the Florida job real bad when they hired Muschamp and he finished second.

I wouldn't be surprised if Florida goes after Coach Strong, but it doesn't look good when a coach leaves a school after one year.  Lane Kiffin leaving Tennessee after one year is proof of that. At least a coach going to a better job after building a program for four years can say he left the program in a better position. A coach staying for one year and leaving can't say that. Also, Florida is not a better job than Texas. If the Florida job was open last year it would have made sense for him to take the Florida job because of his history there. I would think since he's here now and invested a year building his program that it would make more sense for him to stay.

Can't worry about a "what if" scenario.  If it happens, it happens, and there are a lot of competent guys who would jump at the chance to come here.

I would actually be fine with that. I was excited about Strong coming in but he seems to have major deficiencies in his gameday coaching and within his staff hires.

People like to say that it's too early to judge and I'm certainly not calling for his head but some of the things that bother me about him aren't related to not having "his" players yet. Poor game management is something that can become a major brick wall when trying to put a national championship season together.

So if he goes to Florida, I will just look to see who's next with excitement. And if not, I will just hope he improves the roster while correcting some of the other issues.

Rumor I've seen is OU AD Castiglione (sp???) to

Michigan and Stoops back to Florida.

I'm not worried about Strong going to UF. Like a poster mentioned above, they'll go offensive mind (unless they get Stoops).

They might inquire as to his availability but I just don't see him taking to position. Maybe I'm being naive or I'm just flat out wrong but I think he's here for the duration of his contract or until he's forced out.

I would suspect Matt hit the nail on the head. . . .which does not surprise me given what we have seen from our BMD's.

Dan Mullen is who I suspect gets call #1 . .. . .
