We all know that the pickings are slim in terms of realignment and TV's are driving the car.

I present the following in an effort to encourage discussion only ,These are schools that could be easily added.

States / University

West Virginia - West Virginia U

Virginia - Virginia Commonwealth U

Carolina - East Carolina U

Florida - U. Central Florida

Illinois - N. Illinois U

Iowa - Iowa State

Ohio - Cincinnati

(need one more for the eastern half of BIG16) W.Kentucky or Temple anyone?

Kansas - Kansas, KSU

Oklahoma - OU,OSU

Texas - Texas, Baylor, TCU, Tech

Oh well at least by adding these schools you are adding the recruiting areas of Hampton Roads Virginia, Florida and possibly Pennsylvania and a bunch of flat screen TV's

Looking forward to the retort.

Memphis is probably a better option than either Temple or WKU. Rumor is Fed Ex's chairman, Fred Smith, has offered to pay the Big 12 $10MM and forfeit their revenue share for a few years if we accept the Tigers.

Man, Iowa State really gets screwed in any expansion scenario! WVU should just be happy to be here. Of course, both recruit FL heavily and VA would be a great addition for them.

With all due respect.....NONE of these schools are attractive for realignment.
Bingo. What a depressing group to choose from. Deloss waiting on ND and not actively working on Florida St. Clemson, Va Tech etc. is hurting now. Louisville athletically would be attractive as well.....at least from a football and hoops perspective.

Football & hoops are the only sports that matter to the athletic department's bottom line. I'm still pissed that we didn't invite Louisville as #11, at worst. We could've filled in #12 later. Honestly, don't see how WVU beat out UL to begin with.

Have to wait and see how this Division 4 stuff plays out. Read that some schools (ISU, KSU for example) wont make the cut to be one of the chosen.

What has changed that would make any of these schools more attractive than they seemed a year ago? Its like standing in the bar two hours later asking yourself which of the same girls have gotten more attractive? Well, none of them are. The only thing that could possibly have changed is your judgment.

There just aren't any attractive options out there in the current environment. We aren't being forced to make any changes, so why make any? Personally, I think things may change a lot when/if legal or technology shifts end bundling of channels to cable subscribers. If the cable providers lose the ability to force subscribers to pay for sports content they don't want, the economics of college sports gets totally rearranged. That is when realignment will happen.

We don't need to force a bad solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Until there is a reason to expand, we shouldn't expand the conference.

I agree, most of those schools probably would jump at the chance to join the B12, but doesn't it just further water down the product? With the possible exception of UCF wouldn't we just be adding to the bottom of the league? Also would ESPN & FOX be willing to anti up additional funds for those teams?

UCF and ECU would be good adds if we went full retard and did "football only" members.

Honestly, if you want Texas to be in a better conference, adding teams to the Big XII stopped being a viable option back in 2011.

Texas's best option is now to either go independent or bolt to either the BIG Ten, Pac 12, ACC, or SEC in no particular order. I'd prefer the SEC or Pac-12 but (1) that's just me and (2) Aggy now holds a veto to allowing us into the SEC.

Again, Im waiting to see what happens with Division 4, but if there is truly a need for us to have a CCG, then youve got to add someone.....

The rumor is FOX will ante up IF we add UCF and Cincinnati. They need more broadcast inventory.

feel the same way.....add Cincinnati and CFU for CCG if we cannot get D4 installed for 2014 season.

I bet they would ante up more if we waited and added more quality teams. Or just moved to another conference.

Beto: What "quality" team are you going to add right now? Everyone who is any good is locked up.

I agree with you even if it takes 3-4 years for D4 to get put in place, which it might very well given how long it took to get a playoff. Other than the money, which I'm sure would be the driving force behind the argument for a CCG, I just don't see the need or benefit to having one. Help me if I'm missing something here.

"never go full retard"

I like the image of we have stayed at the bar an additional 2 hours and some of the targets start to look better.......Thanks deloss, you screwed the pooch on this one.

Chitown:

Considering how often this conference has given itself the shaft by upsets in that game, nope, dont want it unless its going to hurt our champion in the playoffs.

This year, if Oklahoma State wins it I dont want to see a repeat. I remember how pissy I was when FSU beat Florida and then had to play Florida again for the NC. That was lame.
