I saw on another site he has committed to TCU but no link or evidence. Anybody else hear or see this? Really wanted this kid, hope they're wrong.

Nothing has fallen.

We've got time to change his mind, although I suspect a CFB "early signing period" will be implemented next year. The offense needs to show Robinson something new, though. If Boykin lights it up again, we're screwed.

Saw the TCU commitment reported on Bleacher Report. We need to offer the Westlake kid either way, and then continue the hunt for another QB. Don't want to be left at the alter on NSD without a quality QB. Always harken back to the lack of recruitment to Brees, he has done pretty well. Can't put all of our eggs in one basket for one guy at the expense of losing out on other quality recruits (especially guys in iur backyard).

left on the altar 20 months out?

The ripple effect from a 2017 kid will be significant - for TCU and everyone else in Texas.

Strange times, indeed.

Yep. I think the first QB out of Ehlinger or Mascorro we offer will commit quickly to Texas.

I don't think this will drastically change Strong's timeline though. I expect Ehlinger to be offered a little bit after UTL if Strong/Watson like what they see.

There was no thread when I started this one but they can delete this one if they want.
Just having fun, not a negative towards you my friend!
PS: I guess my joke would have played out better on the other thread started after yours!

Funny, I took the opposite argument in the recruiting thread yesterday jesting that a guy who committed still had 20 months until his signing day. I turned hypocrite overnight! However, I would still offer the Westlake kid and get him committed. Thanks for calling me out my friend, I will watch my poor attitude from here on out!

JR/early commits are pretty meaningless IMO, at least in the grand scheme of things. That even includes Texas commits. In today's recruiting world commitments mean nothing until NSD.

All I heard last year was that A&M was building a class of the century after JRs Hudson and Little committed to the Aggies. Hudson is now a Baylor commit and Little is looking like a flip to Alabama.

What really made me laugh last year was Stidham. The kid actively recruited for Texas Tech for nearly a year and flipped to rival Baylor at the end of the process.

Nothing really gets me excited or disappointed with early commits. I've seen these things play out before and half these guys will end up at a different school. Wake me up when it's December.

certainly not meant as a 'call out' but commitments before the kid has suited up for his Junior year don't move the needle too much for me. Same as the ones who commit FOR UT.

Always have to make fun of yourself before somebody else figures it out and does the same! Agree, shouldn't get worked up this early....but a commit to the Horns sure makes me feel better than to any of our competitors, and of course the $EC last place Aggies.

Recruiting has changed in the last few years... commitments don't seem to mean as much as they used to.  These kids network via social media with one another and influence some to change their minds, especially closer to NSD.  I really wanted the Horns to get Robinson and I suspect he will stick to his commitment to the toads.  We will see.
