Sophomore wide receiver Mike Davis has been moved behind Jaxon Shipley at the (X) wide receiver position. Davis set rookie records for receiving last season and this season is the leading WR for UT with 39 receptions for 554 yards but had a bad game against ATM. He dropped a pass and missed several blocks.

This may be more about Shipley and less about Davis. I have never been a big fan of Davis, he has aligator arms and has never fulfilled his potential. He was either a four or five star recruit, depending on who was rating him.

It also sets up McCoy/Shipley Part II and that was a matter of when, not if it was going to happen.

Miles Onyegbule, a 6'3" freshman receiver from Arlington and a three star recruit will get his first start at the (H) receiver.

Marquis Goodwin will remain the (Z) receiver.

Surprising for sure. Davis is one of our better potential receivers. Are you sure he isn't playing with Shipley? He has Limas Sweed and Roy Williams potential.

He has been put on the second team. I think he has not worked hard and makes way too many mistakes. I listened to a show on ESPN in Austin. They talked of how he is not being aggressive enough going after balls. Might just be an attitude thing but Shipley starting was inevitable, especially with Case at QB.

BTW..It was an official announcement from Mack Brown.

I saw Davis had taken a demotion. Too much hurky jerky butterfinger hands. He needs to work on his route running too. Like the Colonel above said he has the physique to be a badass wideout but he needs to work on the fundamentals before he moves to badass status.

Before the season Mack said that guys were going to have to earn their starting spots. Because of the injuries all the way around folks were just allowed to play. They need to know that at Texas there are no gimmees. You earn the right to be the shit at UT.

I agree with bbdude. Davis has dropped way to many passes this year. The A&M game especially. The way dropped passes are counted in stats are way different then the amount of passes a reciever actually drops. To get a drop in the stats you pretty much have to lose a ball that hits you in the numbers. If you can get your hands on the ball... you can catch the ball. I just don't think Davis has figured that one out yet...
