Everyone seems caught up in 'March Madness but I just can't wait for football season, so I have concocted a solution.
The NFL needs to have split squads and two entirely separate teams. One would play in the fall and the other would play in the spring. Like the NBA has a D-league, the NFL could have the 'NFL Spring League.' They already have the venues and there are plenty of out of work players and coaches, so that would not be a problem and don't even tell me there wouldn't be interest from fans and the media?
There is a growing number of Cowboys' fans that are waiting for Jerry Jones to turn the reins of the team over to the heir apparent, Stephen Jones.
I had a interesting conversation with a well connected source that offers a differing opinion of the young Jones. I can't tell you the name but my guy, 'Deep Throat D', is a major player in Dallas. If I go any further I would give DTD's name away as he is that well known.
Put quite simply he portrays SJ as just another rich kid who never had to work a job in his life and doesn't have the intellect of a pet rock. Quite frankly baby Jones is his father without Jerry's ideas or vision and the people who can't wait for Stephen to take over for Jerry are going to be sadly disappointed.
I want to give a big shout out to my Texas Longhorn Basketball team. Not only didn't you make the NCAA tournament but they sucked so badly the NIT had no interest.
The next stop was some made up tournament that featured the bottom of the trash in the NCAA and Rick Barnes' team lost in the first round.
Recently DeLoss Dodds said, "there are a lot of tournament teams that don't want to play us." The bad news for us suffering fans is they didn't get to play a team in the tournament but had to settle for playing the University of Houston. Next season Barnes team is going to play in the Texas High School Tournament and we can only hope there is not a team that can score or we lose that as well.
Speaking of Dodds, he had what I feel is the appropriate response to the idea of playing Texas A&M.
“They left,†Dodds told The Daily Texan. “They're the ones that decided not to play us. We get to decide when we play again. I think that's fair. If you did a survey of our fans about playing A&M, they don't want to. It's overwhelming. I know. I hear it. Our fans are important to us. I think there's got to be a period where things get different. I think there's too many hard feelings.â€
That's the good news and the bad is he also said Rick Barnes would absolutely return. Sigh!
That's all for this week but I will see you again next week with another addition of SWUB.
Tease: Wednesday I am offering up more detail on the NFL II ...
