Saban thoughts: Is it just about a raise?

First let me say this I don't know if Saban is coming here or not. But what I do know is that he is not using Texas to just get a raise. He does not need to use Texas or anyone for that matter. All he would need to to do what walk in the Bama AD office and say I need more money. What do you think they are going to do? Hell yes give him more money. Also don;t you think him and Bama would just have a press conference saying they have reworked and extended his contract that would kill all the rumors right there. Why has this not happened yet?

...likewise upon the same sentiment MBHORNSFAN. For as I have been articulating upon (day 1). NICK ROLL TIDE SABAN just does not need to journey to the State of Texas as per anything!

This man has it all. Seems as though most everyone within the State of Alabama is endeared to him upon one way or another. For many of their faithful have indeed stated time and time again.... that they are more than willing to do any and everything possible, to ensure that their beloved head coach does not leave their successful football program...

We're TEXAS! And this fact shall warrant no further explanation.

...and we should never be seen as basically "begging" this man to take the helm of our football program.

Mike spoke this truth at the tailgate, and it deserves consideration.

All about the money? No I don't think so. Head coaches at the top tier programs have huge egos and have a driving need to be continually challenged, that is one of the things that makes them great at what they do. If you look at the best coaches in college football very few have stayed at the same school their entire career and many have coached at multiple schools. As MB said Nick could just walk in and ask for more money but I believe there is something else driving him. I don't know if he'll end up at UT or retire at Bamma but it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

have never bought the raise angle at all. Saban doesnt need to send his wife to Austin among other things all to get Bama to pony up.

I don't get the money angle.

Saban can demand anything he wants. He doesn't need to do anything but simply tell his AD he would like more money.

The AP story etc isnt needed for more cash.

I dont think we are begging anyone to coach here, we are courting Saban(hopefully) and paying him a handsome amount bc he is the best coach in college football today and maybe ever.

We are Texas and we have sucked at most sports for the past few years and it should not be that way.
