Not necessarily. He flat out denied he was leaving for Bama. This is Saban's M.O. He wouldn't have asked for a no buyout if he wasn't considering it. I really think that was a warning to Texas to get something done with Mack.

Dizz, it's not as implausible as it seems on the surface. First of all it wouldn't happen until after the bowl games, second we would conduct a full blown public coaching search considering a number of candidates. Lastly, at the time Saban signed his extension and made those comments the Texas job was not open and not an option for him. However, a month later the world is a different place and a tremendous opportunity for his family presented itself in the form of the Texas job offering him the unprecedented opportunity to win MNC's at 3 different schools. That's how it would be spun publicly.

The only thing that has stood in the way of getting this deal done ultimately for over a year now is Mack Brown himself. The events of the past 48 hours gave the steamrollers a lot of leverage regarding Mack and his future involvement in the program.

I talked with my source and he said Saban is definitely not dead. We are still talking with Sexton through back channels. We have some major hurdles to overcome after all of this (think Mack's future role at Texas). We would have to specifically and very clearly create a legitimate firewall between Mack and the football program. However, the fact that Mack is finally gone has brought Saban back to the table. It will be an uphill battle.
