SignUp Now!Which programs are you considering the most important? Going off of recent results (last couple of years or so) I'd guess UT, ou, osu, bu, ksu and maybe tt.Both the Acc and Pac would allow Texas and Ou to bring some friends and pretty much keep the most important part of the Big 12 intact. Easier for travel and also for regional power in the conference.
How're super conferences going to deal with existing GORs if progress actually gets here <12 years?Progress is coming, slowly but surely.
Good question, and one Id assume the lawyers would work out if needed. Ive got a legal guy Ill run that by, see what his opinion is.How're super conferences going to deal with existing GORs if progress actually gets here <12 years?

Our closest allies:Ou, Bu, TT, Ok St and if room Tcu. Probably not Kst, I foresee PAC move long term for KSt. If big 12 ceases to exist Ku to Big 10, Isu PAC? Wv to sec or Acc. Tcu with Texas to Acc or Tcu to PAC so Pac can get their foot into Texas.
I would give up my first born son to have Tomlin or Gruden if we can't get Saban. Personally, although I think Saban is the most sure thing there is, I'd almost rather end up with Gruden or Tomlin because both of those guys are younger and would be here longer than Saban. With Saban being 62, you have to think it would take him 2-3 years to turn things completely around and by that point he's 65 when we would probably begin our run. Anyone think he's really coaching until he's 70?New to the board. Real quick I'm hearing the following:
1. Looking more and more like Saban coming to Austin
2. Previously the thinking was Muschamp would be Plan B. Not so much any more. Talk about Gruden has stepped up along with Pete Carroll and Mike Tomlin. For whatever reason, should Saban fall thru we are looking more and more at going the pro route with this hire.
3. Muschamp is no being seen as a third tier candidate along with Briles.
4. No mention of Strong
5. Cincinnati & UCF have been talked about for a while. Although these schools don't excite anyone, I've been told the good news is that Saban could now go into Ohio and Florida and recruit kids letting their parents know that they will get to see their boys play in-state should they come to UT.

Said it 100 times now, Gruden hasnt coached in college in two decades, and coached period in years.Tomlin I could probably deal with. Gruden, no way in hell do I want that guy as the Texas coach.
Please let this happen. I'm a huge college hoops fan. Just imagine Duke, UNC and Syracuse (among others) coming to play here on a semi annual basis. The ACC would be my favorite. IMO the ACC has better football, BASKETBALL & darn good baseball.
In addition, I believe the southern culture is important to maintain.
I agree but would the ACC move the meter with recruits like a conference filled with Ohio State , Michigan and US....just wondering? The ACC would be my favorite. IMO the ACC has better football, BASKETBALL & darn good baseball.

I think so. Honestly, its moving the needle with recruits having alternate uniforms that look like Pablo Picasso crapped all over them. Not sure history sways this bunch as much as "bling"I agree but would the ACC move the meter with recruits like a conference filled with Ohio State , Michigan and US....just wondering?
Love the post.As far as academics: (in the top 100)Duke #7 ~ Stanford #5
Notre Dame #18 ~ Cal #20
UVa #23 ~ USC #23
Wake #23 ~ UCLA #23
The ACC has UNC #30, BC #31, GT #36, Miami #47, Clemson #62, SU #62, Pitt #62, VT #69, FSU 91
The P12 has Washington #52, Colorado #86.
I'm biased but I would say academics favor the ACC.
In my fantasy world, I would create 4 pods, each with 5 teams. The existing ACC would be divided into 3 pods. North - anchored by Notre dame. East - anchored by Clemson and VT. South - anchored by FSU and Miami. I would add a West pod - anchored by Texas and Oklahoma. I'm guessing Oklahoma would want OSU and Texas would want TT? I'd like to see Kansas as #5 but I really see them in the B1G. Beyond that I see TCU and Baylor being approximately equal.
FWIW - there is a lot of bad blood between WVU and the ACC. I don't know where it comes from but I don't see WVU in the ACC...EVER! They really don't help with a West pod anyway.
I would also have regional/pod tournaments with the winners advancing to the conference tournament. For football you could have the winner of each pod in a 1-game play off. Something like E vs W, N vs S with the winners advancing to the CCG. I know this requires NCAA rule changes but January is coming...

U have a few coaches u rank pretty high but then have good reasons they should not be head coach.Welcome aboard, SG
1. My ranking, based on your list of coaching candidates, is Saban, Tomlin, Carroll, Gruden and Muschamp.
2. I'm a little scared of hiring a NFL coach without a proven track record of recruiting success. Obviously, Carroll can do it. But Tomlin or Gruden? I don't know. Guess the administration is confident The University sells itself!
3. Surprised we'd consider Muschamp & Briles "3rd Tier" candidates. Not really interested in bringing Muschamp back because his offense sucks. At his age, I don't think Briles will leave a program he's built either.
4. I'm surprised we're not looking at Strong. What about Stanford's, David Shaw?
5. I'm fine with adding both UCF and Cincinnati. Disappointed we didn't just add Louisville as 11th member, but this is acceptable. Especially if Cincy maintains its powerhouse hoops program. UCF is the largest, fastest-growing public university in FL. Adding them is forward thinking. FSU was unknown back in the 70's.
Lastly, I don't see our rumored new AD, Oliver Luck, as being a "yes man" type. He's going to want significant influence in the decision-making process for our new coaches. He's a brilliant, take-charge guy. I think he'll be a great fit for UT athletics!
