If we hire Saban does he bring staff with him? Or would he start over with a whole new coaching staff? Who would he bring? Would K. Smart be promoted or would he follow Saban to UT?

I suppose there is a chance we get Nussmeier but Smart will stay in Alabama as he's more or less the Coach in Waiting. Even if we did get Nussmeier, I'd expect him to leave after a year or two. He'll be a Head Coach candidate in quite a few places.

With Bama's recent success they could have just about whoever they wanted as a head coach. Would they promote Smart? Or go after one of the big names that we are hearing associated with UT right now? Wouldn't it be fun to see Meyer or Gruden on their sideline?

Smart has been groomed to take over the Bama job after Saban eventually leaves. Consequently if Saban comes to UT Smart does not. There has been discussion about the Bama OC coming along with Saban but the Toledo HC is a consideration for OC as well under a Saban staffed team.

Hope this helps.

Are we really going here again?

yawn...

Would assume Bama asks Jimbo what he thinks of getting the job. Would further assume Jimbo would say "Hell yes," since he's an SEC guy through and through (and take Pruiett back with him). Bama would likely promote Kirby if Jimbo wanted to stay at FSU. Honestly, could see Jimbo to Bama and Kirby to FSU.

That would be interesting. And I could see that happening as well.

Thanks DTX. The thought of Saban, Narduzzi and someone like Campbell makes me moist. TMI? Seriously, this is what pissed me off the most with Mack. The thought of having a staff like this is exciting and Mack killed it, or so he thought.

I'd take Campbell as the OC, but would want to call Herman the OC at Ohio State first. He's a Texas guy and has coached in Texas on his way up.

Narduzzi would be a grand slam hire as DC, but if he said no, the two I'd call would be Mason at Stanford and Pruitt at Florida State. Pruitt was the DB coach and lead recruiter for Saban at Alabama before getting the FSU gig last year.

I'm really starting to find myself agreeing with you more and more. I understand why people want Narduzzi, who wouldn't, but my first call would be to Pruitt. I just feel he would fit the organization more. As far as Herman goes, he seems like the perfect fit under Saban. And with Saban likely to retire in 5-8 years, Herman and Pruitt would both make for good CIW candidates.

Just asking a question? If the current coaches at UT have been informed that they won't be retained. I guess this came from MB who is no longer going to be the coach. How could that statement be made unless the new coach has already been chosen and has given notice who will no longer be retained.I could see coaches Wyatt or Porter being kept. Any thoughts....My thinking is that Saban or Fisher may already be in play waiting for the end of bowl games and already know what they want in staffing.

SG - What are your thoughts on NS still coming to Texas today compared to last Friday/Saturday?
