One of my Bama buds says Nick is getting crucified in T-town by the fans and media alike. Could this be the "lack of appreciation" his wife Terry eluded to? Could this be the impetus to send Saban packing?

I'm still of the belief Mack returns in 2014, particularly if he wins Saturday and earns a BCS berth in the process. But, should Texas lose and go 8-4 . . . . It will certainly be arguably the most intriguing and entertaining first week of postseason since the staff reshuffle of 2010.

I don't think it will effect him or is what Terry was referring to. I'm with you in the belief that Mack is given another year and if he doesn't produce he will retire. From what I've heard from friends in tuscaloosa and Alabama are different. Sure some are probably pissed.but I'm pretty sure Saban is more pissed over the millions he lost in bonuses in that fg gamble than anything else since our insiders seem to think he's low on cash

A few said it reminded them of how franchonie tenure ended before he left and a few wondered if he might be going to UT or retire which I found interesting

Mack is gone regardless of Saturday and Saban will be the first call to replace him. If Saban wants to come he will. If he doesn't we move on to another option that will be better than Mack.

Sounds like you are Patterson himself.

Best description of our current situation that I've seen!!

Mack isn't coming back, and there are certainly issues in Bama they Saban's dont like. Crap like this is part of it.

Oh, he's not worried about that at all. What he's got in front of him already makes him forget all about that small sum.

The money involved in this deal is bigger than any coaching job ever - pro or college - in any sport. Saban's not worried about a silly bonus. The official rumored offer is for $8 mil per, but the real money is up front and swells well beyond $8 mil, but is not part of the contract with UT. This was set up by BMDs. Some of you would choke if I told you the actual number.

$30,000,000.00 Do I win!

Ha-ha! There are so many "insiders" surrounding the UT program that I think us "outsiders" are the MINORITY of fans. Wow. I can't keep up with it all!!

I'm no insider. I just have a friend and associate in the business who is (JS), and a couple of customers of mine are plugged in. I try not to pester but when they bring it up, I get as much as I can.

Agreed, just because someone stumbles across info doesn't make them an " insider", just a well informed fan. Post whatever you hear and allow the masses decide for themselves.

Thanks for your input!!!

Know what you mean. I'm not an insider but I live vicariously through them.

So much for being honest what was it the actor JN said "you can't handle the truth." For what it worth I think the time is right to change coaches. How many more chances dose MB get. If we go 8-3 will he want another year should we be happy with 8-3 teams. At some point you cut your ties and move on. The team has been down and showing no real growth to play in the MNC game Im just asking. My friends y'all have a great week

Let me be clear. I'm not one that wants Mack Brown to return in 2014. It's just that I've seen no real indication he's going to be removed. Steve Patterson has been on the job less than a week and he has a lot to digest. It would surprise me if he steps in an immediately cans a coach who has won a MNC and has 158 Ws. I know we all WANT him gone. But like the old sayings goes . . . . wish in one hand and poop in the other and see which one fills up first. I want Saban, but have doubts we'll get him. FWIW.

I may not have the popular opinion here but I do not see the fuss over Saban.

Yes, he is a winner and the greatest current coach in football now. He knows how to build a winning program and has won NC at 2 different schools in his tenure. BUT.......

He is nearing the end of his career, he is in his early 60's and not much younger than Mack Brown. Does he have the energy to take on another challenge at Texas that he did at Bama when he started there 8 years ago? Will he attack the program with the same passion. I like to think he would but still he has a lot of miles on him. Also, how much longer will he realistically coach at this level before deciding to want to slow down. JoPa and Bowden, for as good of coaches as they were, were not the same coach after age 70 than they were before it.

He has never been anywhere longer than 7 years and he may likely want to retire someday (at least it is not that unreasonable). Don't you think it is better to try and find the next coach who has the potential to be there 10-20 years? or is that not even realistic today?
