It could also be a built-in PR move for him to make it look like Michigan didn't give him what he wanted and it's his free pass to leave for the NFL, even though what he's asking for is basically impossible.
I have to agree with this. The attraction for recruits was Saban, not necessarily Alabama. DeBoer should be a very good coach, but no more so than several others in the SEC. They will now be relegated to competing on par with the other top teams in the league, Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, etc. Georgia will now hold the top position until they start taking the occasional loss...hopefully at least one from Texas next season.
