If Alabama goes to CDC to ask permission to talk to Sark, does he allow them to...of course he does as he works on an extension

If you are Sark and Coach Nick personally asks you do you say no ???? I think no, thats Don Corleone telling you you will be the next Don

I was afraid of the NFL coming after Sark , I completely overlooked the Alabama job opening....this job comes along once in a lifetime and only to a few, BUT its like following John Wooden at UCLA, or Coach K at Duke

I think Sark does not bite the hand that feeds, Texas is not a stepping stone job, I think when CDC gives Sark permission I think he tell him that we will match the offer

I will go one step further, IF Sark takes the job, QE bolts to the NFL, and if the portal opens back up Arch goes with him

its Wed night here on the west coast, I fully expect when I wake up tomorrow, the decision will have have been made

I can't imagine Sark bringing in Nansen, then leaving...and this had to be a done deal for a while. So my hope and inclination is that it is Lanning.

At this point, what advantages does the Alabama job have that the Texas job doesn't have and more? Sure, there's Saban's legacy of success, but that could be a negative for a lot of potential successors. Following a GOAT rarely goes well.

True, ....but I bet Sark feel like he owes Saban for giving him job when nobody would even interview him...But if Sark asks you personally to take over the program he built it would be tough for anyone to say no to him...this is probably one time where money won't make a difference, you take the job vs you dont take the job

Saban is not making the decision on his successor. He may be asked for advice, but the AD, board, etc, are the decision makers. Also, I am confident Sark is capable of making his own decisions based on his own personal situation without yielding to outside pressure. Being grateful to Saban is one thing, but making an ill-advised career move is another.

I do not envy any coach going to Bama, with Sabans record and how spoiled Bama fans have become whoever comes in better have seriously thick skin because they are going to be compared relentlessly.
