If you have the top 48 or so teams in their own league, every week, every match up is against two of the top 48 teams. Essentially would have the appeal of the current SEC schedule but without Vanderbilt.
They are not according to what was voted for in the CFP format today.
Duke wouldn't be added. But Virginia over Miami might happen.SEC will need to add four schools all from the ACC soon enough.
If you care about football then FSU, Miami, Clemson and UNC are good bets. Take hold of Florida.
If you care about academics (doubtful) - FSU, UNC, Duke and Virgina
I'm not sure we are understanding each other. The top 8 college football stadium can hold over 100k fans, and those stadiums are mostly full and the fans are super engaged.
The #48 stadium has half the capacity, and most of the teams in that range have trouble selling tickets.
A game between Texas and Georgia, or Tennessee, or Alabama or LSU or Michigan
or Ohio State or Penn State, or Notre Dame or USC generates way more excitement and revenue then a game against Utah state or Iowa State. It seems odd to me that you would argue that they are equivalent.
I'm not sure we are understanding each other.
If you have 48 teams in two power conferences, the #48 team is the low point for a match up.
Right now the power 4 conferences have 60 teams so the low point for a match up is the #60 team or worse (think Vanderbilt, Rutgers).
I am arguing that we exclude the Utah and Iowa States of the world and improve the weekly matchups.
aggy is a big time major program? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAI'm very confused by what you are suggesting. My understanding was that you thought the SEC and B1G should each move to 24 schools, picking up the best available teams.
Let's keep it simple and only consider the SEC.
Currently the SEC will have the following 8 big time major programs: Texas, ou,Georgia, Alabama, aggy,Florida,LSU and Tennessee. And then from there it goes from descent programs down to vandy.
Obviously if you could start over you would eliminate the bottom teams and grab some better ones, or maybe just keep the biggest/best programs and get more similar schools. For better or worse ejecting schools at the bottom, or starting over isn't a serious active dialog at this point in time.
What is a more serious dialog is expansion, which is likely to happen when teams are able to exit the ACC(2036 at the latest). When that happens the SEC will likely still have the existing 16 schools, so the only question is which schools to take. IMHO they should take Florida State, and consider North Carolina and Virginia, but no more, they definitely shouldn't go to 24 teams since that would involve adding teams that would lower the average, which would make the conference less compelling from a per team revenue and schedule excitement perspective.
What exactly are you suggesting?

Based on winning, not so much.Based on size, budget and enthusiastic fan base yes. Based on fans and administration not saying and doing stupid shit, not so much.
If you are looking at winning in his post above, I agree with you. You would have to replace aggy with Auburn. Auburn is a much bigger time program than aggy. They've won four national championships since aggy's 1939 win.aggy is a big time major program? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

aggy’s revenues were the same as ours for a couple of years. But that was because they had a fundraising drive for stadium upgrades. Once that was done, they fell back where they usually are. Still high but not in our neighborhood. For good and bad, we are the Jones.I was going by my perception. Looks like I was off a bit.
Here is the 2022 revenue for the SEC schools(no TX or ou).
Looks like auburn and arky are ahead of aggy. I'm not sure how reliable this , I think I remember hearing that the aggy athletic revenues were almost as high as TX.

I got called a T-sip just the other day. I just laughed shook my head and walked away still laughing. Too bad you just can't say aggy and stress the lower case a and the y. They hate that spelled out.Based on winning, not so much.
To me what is more irritating is a dumb *$$ aggy yell "Whoop" in church or some social event. They have no idea how stupid they appear.I got called a T-sip just the other day. I’d like to hear that story please! To me what is more irritating is a dumb *$$ aggy yell "Whoop" in church or some social event. They have no idea how stupid they appear.
To your post, I usually reply, "Tsip. Really? 37 wins in 118 games is the definitive definition of being a loser. I guess losers have to resort to name calling to feel better about themselves." Usually that ends the conversation. However, I have gone fisticuffs with some play army members. At my age now, it is not worth my time and energy to beat the crap out of play army.
One day I will have to share what I told a dean at A$M about what he, the corp, and A$M can do with their rodeo scholarship offer.![]()
