Rumor: Oliver Luck Wont Take Job With Unsettled Coaching Situation

Not sure what to believe. Im sure there is half truth and some rumors in all of the information we are hearing.

If indeed it is true then he isnt the right guy for this job, nor is he given the true title of AD. The AD is to come here and fire and hire who he sees fit in the athletic department. Sure, you get the opinions form the BMD and important people and look at how the coaches have preformed in the past but he should want to come in and make all the decisions.

On the other hand, he knows that Belmont is a shit hole and doesnt want to come in without some of the shit cleaned out.

We might be big bad Texas and one of the top 5 power universities in America but we are a currently a circus show, a bad circus with a couple of street monkeys and unicycle juggler.

Supposedly wants this thing done so he doesn't have to do it, one way (keep) or the other (fire).

He doesnt strike me as the kind of guy who has an issue with firing someone.
I call "bullshit". Luck knows what his purpose will be, re-energize the athletic department with new blood. He has no problem firing people, including WVU legacy Bill Stewart.

Bobby Burton is reporting the search for our new AD could be over by Tuesday and that Luck or Arkansas' Jeff Long could be the new hire.

Come on guys, listen to yourselves. 20 posts and not one has anything positive to say about the team.

We know that what we say here won't have any real effect on the decisions made by the board of regents. It may, however, have an influence on some of the young recruits. Think about the kids Mack Brown coaches and mentors. Surely you would agree that he has helped thousands of kids by being an outstanding example of strength of character and loyalty, even after they have left the program.

I know that if I had a son playing college football, I'd rather him play for Mack Brown rather than Nick Saban or any other coach. There's a lot more to college football than just wins and pleasing the fans...that's for the pro's.

Not sure if serious.

And? Meaning we would have 2 ADs?

So 1 thread says Luck DOESNT want the job under some circumstances and some reports is Luck is AD in 5 days.

All over the spectrum.

Pleasing the fans. That's rich. I assume you mean the 100K+ who put their butts in the seats so Mack can pocket $5MM+ per annum?

Mack's generally a good guy, but his ego is no less than Saban's. Don't kid yourself. Saban can be far more ruthless - and yeah, that's going to be a problem for the Texas culture - but sometimes Mack's no decision/no leadership style can be crueler in its inaction.

If you want to talk about arrogance, there's no website called 'Nick Saban Alabama Football'.

Long is chair of the NCAA football playoff commission so that'd be nice.

UTfish has got a point. Maybe we can get away with shit over here because we're way under the radar, compared to Orangebloods. But if this place had 13000 subscribers, it might be different.

No reason to villify someone for stating their opinion.

I also agree, there's a lot more to CFB than just winning.

Much of this has already been said or posted at one point, but......

WVU knows Luck's intentions and knows he's gone. In fact, WVU already seems to have their next man picked out in Oregon AD, Rob Mullens. Of course, there is a power struggle there as some want Whit Babcock. But WVU knows Luck is long gone. Something "huge" would have to happen for the deal to fall through.

I so hope they announce Luck as the new AD at Texas the Monday of the UT/ WVa game. It should add to the the game day. The WVa fans should have a thing or two to say.

He wants to hire a new coach, but he doesn't want to fire a coach who might go 10-2. Seems reasonable.
