RUMOR From Jesus/IT

I'm simply giddy right now. Think I'll put in my Nick Saban: Gamechanger DVD and read the opening chapter of Nick's book "How Good Do You Want to Be?" :)

Saban could be introduced at the conclusion of the banquet. Having players and uncommitted recruits there would be reason #1 to have him there. #2 would be timing.

I don't think it happens that way though. I don't see Mack and Saban crossing paths much in the next couple of days, if at all, especially with Mack kicking the way he is right now.

I think part of Mack's payoff and yearly payment will be to usher in Saban and give an appearance he's handing off the baton. just my opinion

I could see this happening. Mack can still get honored before it all goes down. lots of recruits. there wouldnt be a better time

Arent Mack and Saban good friends. Could that be a reason why Saban would not say anything at this point?

damn I knew I should have checked out the podcast. I haven't seen it posted on IT but did JS address the Forde tweet about Mack pushing for a meeting with Powers next week? If that's true it doesn't sound like he's going to retire willingly or this week.

I am still in the camp that thinks Saban to Texas is still in play. That said there is no way that Mack would introduce Saban at the banquet on Friday. The banquet Friday will be a celebration and be all about Mack Brown and his players. Bringing Nick Saban in at the banquet would be a huge slap in the face.

I have just been told that Mack is still fighting back on this stepping down stuff and make a mess about it all for people leaking the information.

I dont remember if he mentioned it directly but basically said Mack will use the BOR meeting as cover and likely come out Thur and announce. the BOR meeting will make Powers look somewhat unstable, etc. Then is trying to nail down a rumor he has about 3 sources on saying Saban to be introduced at the Banquet at some point.

just now on his podcast talk going around now is Mack to announce on Thur and Saban to be introduced at the Banquet Fri.
is Labeling a rumor as still trying to confirm with more sources - has heard this from a couple of people

up to 3 sources
That would just seem to be bad form to intro at the banquet. If this all comes down as advertised this week, you have to wonder why now and not next week.

Good Lord some of you are overreacting about the possibility of Saban at the banquet. A year from now, no one will even remember him being at the banquet. Hell a week from now. It's not a big deal. It's not like he will give a 30 speech and presentation. Sounds like he will just be there or be introduced.

"It will look bad for us..."

Folks, we're WAY beyond looking bad when it comes to our athletic department.

Thanks. I went back and read some of the threads. Sounds like just a rumor at this point re: Saban at Banquet but I don't see the issue if it turns out to be true. Makes a lot of sense in fact to introduce him at that event.

Pancho....just sayin' its bad form. But you're right, no one will care 2 weeks from now.....but that don't make it right.

By law, 10 day posting period
As has been mentioned before, that law is pretty much a joke. Was the job posted for 10 days when Tech hired KK? Or when Texas hired Patterson? Or when Texas hired it's assistants or coordinators over the past few years?

By law, 10 day posting period
It will be posted for 10 days prior to any new contract being finalized. Don't forget Saban has a 30 day notice clause in his contract, also.

The BOR can approve the contract subject to any additional information prior to expiration of the 10 day period. I don't see anyone submitting a resume that makes anyone change their mind about Saban.

How about if Saban wants to be present so he get the "Mack appreciation ball" rolling and to thank Mack for being a great ambassador for the game of College Football.
