TFB is reporting that both Rising & Thompson are considering transferring and the staff is actively trying to dissuade them.  @Daniel Seahorn you heard anything about this?  I kinda think at least one of them need to stick around...

I would take that report with a huge grain of salt. I read the free portion of the TFB site and I'm just not that impressed. This kind of sounds like click bait to me.

Jesus.. rising would be an idiot to leave. Sam has missed games due to being hurt each of the last 3 seasons dating back to HS.

somehow, I dont see Sam as going to the NFL....at least not before he graduates. If I was a young QB right now I would be looking at Sam as in my way for the next 2 years. I could not blame either for getting nervous about my situation. If Sam improves over last year, he will be the starter as long as he is eligible. He does "lead with his chin" so to speak, so there is always the possibility (or probability) that he will not play a complete season in his career. Then again, he might get that shoulder repaired and never be injured again.....These guys have a career decision to make and I dont fault them for whatever they decide.

This is not a unique problem and every team faces it.... Had Mayfield stayed at Tech, he never would have started. Hell, Troy Aikman transfered to UCLA and became the # 1 draft choice.....same for Mayfield. Easy for us old fat guys to sit around and talk about how crazy, or disloyal a guy is to leave, but if you were them what in hell would you do?

On a different but somewhat related note, has Porter officially declared he's going to transfer? If he has, I might have missed it.

Just got an update that Thompson is now on the transfer database.

sucks to have a good starting QB doesn’t it!?

Kids want to play and if they are not getting to play then they will look at their options.  What I want to know is what are the Coaches telling these guys that will convince them to stay.  By putting their names on this list it allows other teams to contact them and basically try and recruit them.  It will be more about which schools reach out to these kids and what opportunity they have to offer  that will be the deciding factor for these players.  If Scott Frost at Nebraska tells them you can be starting or at least playing next year they may take a chance and transfer.  If Texas State is calling and not many others , then you will probably stay in hopes you get some playing time.

Nordgren has a year of eligibility left right?

If Scott Frost calls, hang up. I don’t know what is wrong with that program, and I know Frost did a terrific job at UCF, but Nebraska was very unhealthy when he took it over.

It is going to take much more than a recruiting cycle and a quarterback to fix their issues, at least in my opinion.

NU took a big hit to recruits when it left the B12. Lost it's Texas connections and may never recover.

Of they stay, they have a chance to play next year, however small. If they transfer to division 1 they have to sit out for a year.

seems the best chance to play is stay and work like he'll to get better.
