One of the good guys that made ESPN tolerable!

When I heard that he passed away, I immediately thought about Jim Valvano and his speech..

“To me there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two is think -- spend some time time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think and cry, that's a heck of a day.â€

What!?!  This is shocking!  I knew he was battling cancer but didn't realize the severity of his illness.

Just saw the news. Always liked his work at ESPN.

Hadn't heard much about his cancer in a long time so I just assumed he was doing ok and getting better.

RIP Stuart.

We are losing some good men. But the are two things in life that is a guarantee you will pay taxes and we will all die and meet our maker. My friends y'all have a great day

RIP Stuart.

Other way around - when he was absent for an extended period, it was because he was fighting so much.

I loved the story about him being hospitalized when his daughter played her first varsity high school soccer game. A friend went for him and kept a live play by play for him. The daughter had three goals in a 3-1 win.

I just sat and watched my wife's grandfather spend the last two weeks of his life battling this terrible disease. I know there are those on this board that have fought that battle and those that are fighting it as I type. It is unrelenting and unbiased in who it effects. F@#K Cancer in everyone of its hideous forms right back to the hell it came from.
