The weekend started in a big way with a pair of teams that hadn’t lost….Appalachian State fell from the ranks of the unbeaten on Thursday night – Georgia Southern was the better team over the course of 4 quarters. At the other end of the unbeaten spectrum, Baylor held on against West Virginia to remain unblemished in the loss column.
As time expired, Dartmouth completed a Hail Mary against Harvard to remain unbeaten. If you haven’t seen it yet, enjoy:

In the fourth quarter, Notre Dame covered 87 yards in 14 plays to take their first lead in the second half over Virginia Tech. The Irish offense sputtered all afternoon, but they found some momentum and saved the game….and possibly Notre Dame’s season.
Michigan kept its hot streak alive by winning easily over Maryland. Not so long ago, serious questions were being asked about Jim Harbaugh’s tenure as head coach. Winning cures everything and Harbaugh’s critics have fallen silent lately.
UGA proved to be slightly better than Florida on Saturday. The Dawgs jumped to an early lead and controlled most of the game but Dan Mullen and the Gators kept it close. In a neutral site game dubbed The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, Georgia took control of the SEC East.
Mississippi State got their turn to thrash Arkansas. The Razorbacks are not good and have made a habit of losing by 30. Head Coach Chad Morris better be freshening up his resume.
Ugh-lternate uniforms – There is a strong connection between UCF and the space program, but that doesn’t make it acceptable to wear this helmet:

Miami played FSU and nobody cared. Canes vs Seminoles used to be can’t-miss TV, but that was 10 years ago. For the record, Miami won and FSU fired their coach on Sunday, but the needle still didn’t move much.
Oklahoma State beat TCU and Kansas State topped Kansas to continue the log jam in the second tier of Big 12. Anyone who thinks they conclusively know who the third-best team in the league is hasn’t watched much football, or is lying to themselves.
SMU fell from the ranks of the undefeated by losing at Memphis 54-48. The Ponies put up a frantic 24 points in the fourth quarter but their defense allowed two late touchdowns. It’s still a memorable season for SMU, but their national buzz took a blow on Saturday night.
Oregon countered an early surge by USC and ended up controlling the game, winning 56-24. The Washington Huskies jumped out to an early lead over Utah, but the Utes proved to be the better team and won 33-28. After suffering early season losses, Utah and Oregon have consistently been the best teams in the Pac12.
