Could be something to keep an eye on here. Per Ross Dellenger of The Advocate, LSU graduate transfer Brandon Harris will make a visit to Texas along with Arizona and North Carolina.

I'm not high on Harris personally, but he would give you another body in quarterback room and allow you to redshirt Ehlinger.

Yeah, I'm not real high on him either. But if he could enable us to shirt Ehlinger, he might be worth talking to. Not sure how receptive he would be to spending his senior year as a backup after being the starter at LSU.

Herman took a 5' 10" WR and made him into a good CFB quarterback. It's worth taking a risk with Harris if TFH thinks he has the ability.

You tell him he can come in and compete for the starting job. That's about all you can promise him really.

you can never have enough QB`s the only issue would be he needs to get accepted into grad school which is very difficult at Texas

Yes, we need another QB. I'm not confident Shane can go the season without getting hurt. I rather Sam sits for the year and he's also coming off an injured season.

Harris was a 4 star QB and he worked under the worse offensive coach and system with good old Les and Cam. My hope at the very least he could be a reliable backup to Shane. I did read that North Carolina is the favorite.

I'd definitely take him. Let him compete. Worst case he helps ensure Merrick doesn't have to play.

With most recruits taking a wait and see game approach to Texas, with regards to wanting to see a certain number of wins prior to committing, I say forget redshirting Sam if it means he is our best shot at winning.

Only issue with that is you won't know that he is until the live bullets are flying in the fall. If Sam is the best option then either he is a bonafide stud or and ahead of the curve or something went wrong with Shane.

This LSU grad transfer.... runner?  Drop back passer?  Gracias....

Apologies if this has already been discussed.

Dual threat quarterback that was paired with Cam Cameron at LSU. Still can't believe how much money Cameron made in Baton Rouge all things considered.

I know Harris was very close to transferring out early on, but was talked into staying by Cameron and Miles.

Declining QB play is the one thing that always gets coaches fired. Happened with Mack, Richt, and its happening to Malzhan.

I hope it happens to Saban someday soon.

Unfortunately, part of the evil genius that is Saban, is that he doesn't rely on the qb nearly as much as the others you mentioned. Most coaches rely on very good qb play to win. Saban until recently, could get by on a game manager that doesn't lose the game for him. If he starts missing on stud rbs than he may be in a bit of trouble. Hard to lose with a roster full of 5 star, future nfl talent. Again, unfortunately...

Bruce Feldman talks to Harris about his pending visits. Says he talks to Texas everyday and has always been big on Herman.

Also says if UNC blows him away he is going to go there.
