AUSTIN-- Although they sit last in the Big 12 rankings, the Texas men's basketball team had a glimmer of hope last night. The Longhorn's five-game losing streak was broken in a last second three-pointert against the Oklahoma Sooners. That's right, there was redemption on the Red River. In a game that seemed never ending, Texas defeated Oklahoma in the last second, 84-83.

With the second largest at-home crowd this season, Texas was eager to put on a show. Moves were made by the Longhorns in the very beginning, with Shaquille Cleare, Eric Davis Jr. and Jarrett Allen scoring seven points within the first two minutes of the game. The Sooners quickly put up four points to challenge Texas, but the energy inside the Erwin center seemed to fuel the Longhorn's play.

The first half belonged to the Longhorns, up until the last 8 minutes when OU took the lead, 26-24. Texas quickly responded, tying the game 26-26 following two made free throws by James Banks. Texas led the Sooners going into the second half, 41-39.

The second half was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, and the Longhorns kept the lead until the last minute of the game, when OU squeezed ahead 80-78. The Sooners continued to build their lead, with the Longhorns close behind. With ten seconds left, OU led 83-81. The Sooner's Kameron McGusty missed a free throw, giving freshman Andrew Jones the chance to steal the ball. Two seconds until the buzzer, and Jones shoots for the three. And it was good. With 1.8 seconds, Texas was in the lead, and the Sooners did not have enough time to respond to the shot. With a final score of 84-83, the Horns walked away victorious for the first time since their win against Oklahoma State on January 4.
